You think you're so smart with your nice new GameCubes. Happy with them are you? I know you are, you've told us enough times. Especially "Oooh, this controller is fantastic, it's much better than all the other controllers I've used".

Bollards.

Why can't you see it's exactly the same as the DualShock 2 but with less features? Let's run through this:

· D-pad - check
· Two analog sticks - check
· Four main buttons - check
· Shoulder buttons - check
· Rumble - nope
· Full analog on ALL buttons - nope
· 4 shoulder buttons - nope
· Analog sticks as sensitive as the DualShock 2 - nope
· Ability to drop for storeys and still work perfectly - nope

Excuse me if I'm wrong but surely if it's the SAME shape with the SAME layout but with less functions, that makes it worse? Oh no, sorry, I'm missing out the facts that it's purple and made by Nintendo, that automatically makes it far superior, I'm terribly sorry.

I dare any of you to prove to me that the GameCube controller is better than the DualShock 2 - and saying that "it's more comfortable" is a cop-out.

I love this topic. I'm a genius. I deserve 2 GADs for this.

Okay, I said I didn't care, but I think that statement is very wrong. What was the original PSX pad...? A hyped up SNES pad in essence. Then the Duel Shock pad was just Sonys reaction to Nintendo releasing the N64 with an analogue stick. They realised they looked behind the times with just a D-pad, so stuck two sticks on theirs in an attempt to make the pad look more advanced. Then the two extra prongs hardly got used. I don't think the dual shock on PSX was at all ahead of its time. And yes, I agree with Srafex in that the analogue sticks on the Dual shock two are not placed appropriately to promote them as the primary movement device thingy... On GameCube the left hand analogue stick is placed for primary use, and the right hand one was never intended for primary use anyway...

Just my thoughts on the debate. Without any namecalling :D

It's also incredibly small, which makes it worse - difficult to hit ina hurry.

The only flaw with the GC pad is that the d-pad is really awkwardly placed.

Alright for games like Smash Bros and Rogue Leader (where it's only used for an "extra" feature like sending orders to the rest of the squadron or doing a taunt in Smash Brothers) but a game that relied on control with the d-pad would be a real strain on the thumb because it's awkwardly placed.

Incidently, Turbonutter, it's where the dual shock has it's main analogue stick. Now atleast with the Gamecube there's only one or two games you'll need the d-pad for...

(try turn that one around Mr NUTTER!)

I don't think it's that it relies so much on the previous generation; more like the original DualShock was just way ahead of its time.

In an SR news report it said monkeys play Playstations, not Nintendo consoles... ;-)

Anyway, I don't really care about the controllers... each to his own.

Damn I thought I was in there. Oh well, I'm off to use my perfectly sensitised (yes I know it's not a word, but you should get what I mean) analouge stick on my nice, comfy GC controller to play Super Monkey Ball, with it's perfectly sensitive controls.
