LOL "WE?"
Fanboys...when will they learn?
The Gamecube is good and has a following of people, a nice selection of games for all ages and the controller, although not perfect for some it is well designed and thought out.
The Xbox is a good console also with a following of fans, it has a selection of good quality fun games which the owners enjoy playing. The controller is well made but loses out slightly on it's size especially in Japan but this doesn't affect the main console.
The PS2 is a good console and the most popular. It has a huge library of games with a few special games. the controller is the most universally accepted from the three and it has a great reputation.
All three consoles are great consoles, it is the buyers choice whether they should buy one of the consoles and that is they're preference, don't try and bring down something that you don't like as it is liked by others. We don't need to go into eachother's forums and spout over-zealous fanboy rubbish in 'their' faces. Respect eachothers consoles and the owners themselves, it is their choice not yours.
*steps down from soapbox*
Oh and who said the Xbox has no good games? i'd love to see Jet Set Radio and Project Gotham on the Gamecube.
Hey, this is my first time using this forum thing...
Just got to comment on some of the views that some of you have produced.
1. I think the Gamecube controller is a shocker, so small and figity. It has uneven button size and its non-symetrical layout is annoying to play with. Its got two hefty 'clickity' buttons at the back, that when you press them down it makes an irritating 'klingt' sound, plus both of my mates controls have had the buttons at the back stick together, the controler would be usless in fighting games and first person shooters. (fighting games more so.)... How can you play a game such as tekken or street fighter on it? its not in a logical layout, such PS2 has them set out perfectly so that for example low kick and high kick are close to each other and the position on the control is with correspondance to the action. This isnt going to work with the gamecube controllers.
The Xbox controller has almost copied the ps2 layout in a way with the 4'main' buttons in the middle. A,B,X,Y same as with PS2 X,O,triangle and square, this is a possitive. The buttons at the back of the xbox are smooth and easy to control pressure when neccassary (ie racing games.) And what is with that stupid Z button on the GC controller, its too small, near the R button and also has no opposite counterpart, why is it there?!
2.Xbox does have good games (very good games.) Admittedly not too many, but a large handfull. Along with the obvious, like Halo and Dead or Alive3. It also has some underated games such as Project Gotham Racing, which is probably the best driving game ive played (twice as good as GT3.)Also ISS2 is amazing, not to everyones taste, but i love it. Ive also played the GC version of this game. Apparently its the same game, but when i first played it round my mates house i actually thought it was a different game. Its just a prototype version of the Xbox game. Its one of the most irratating and awfully poor football games ive ever played. Its just missing soo much. I think its mainly due to the GC's lack of buttons. I cant blame the developers, it cant be their fault, they've just made an excellent game for the Xbox. It must be the system they had to work with, (GC)that brings about the vicies which occur on the Gamecube version.
4. I dont think the Gamcube has the power that is needed to produce any ground breaking games. Plus the hardware is soo small that you have to believe the fact that bigger is better. Xbox is about 4 times bigger and about 6 times heavier. Thus directly proportioned to gaming potential, we can deduce that xbox is undoubtably the better machine. Though just because its got almost double the spec and functions, good game systems must have good games to play on it. Hopefully penny pinching bill gates will see that in order to make money, he has to spend money. Sony have pulled off many stunts involving large sums of money being paid to game developers so that the release of a game will be witheld from a certain console for a certain period of time, helping the PS2 rise above the compotition in the market. Hopefully microsoft will notcie that some xbox owners arnt fully happy with the games released soo far and soon bill will get his cheque book out and pay some bills.
5. I believe that if mr.gates can start throwing money at the console it will stand a better chance at domonating the market, microsoft is one of the most (if not THE most) successful companies in the world. They have to money to take gaming to a new level, unlike nintendo who have still yet to leave the realms of out of date mario titles and kids' games. ( i wonder which colour of pokemon games we'll recieve tomorrow.... lylac??,colourless??.
6. What is with those tiny little disks that the GC has, it quite blatently cant hold as much infomation as a normal cd. Apparently its a new type of disk and rom, but from the shoddy games ive seen on the gc, i can only believe that bigger is better.
7.It doesnt even have a dvd player on it, whats with that?
Xbox has one,(admittedly you have to pay 20 quid for a remote for it to work, but its better than paying 120 squid to have a big fvckoff box aswell as a gamesystem in your room. Atleast with xbox you have them all in a (slightly larger than normal) DVD player sized box.
8. Why hasnt nintendo seen the possibilities of having a built in hard drive like the Xbox? The internet capabilities are huge. You could download new levels onto your Harddrive, or new Modifacations. For anyone who has ever played half-life (counter-strike, TFC etc) knows that games like that are ever changing and the beauty of having a harddrive is that you can change the game almost, just using the same disc, but changing slight bits with the files on your harddrive. ( this is if the technology';s good enough, i reakon it should be, its pretty much a pc in a box.) Try saving anything on that tiny little memory card the Gamecube has and youll see that the hard drive is a genius idea.
In my oppinion, may not be anyone elses is the console order of... 'goodness' is :
•Xbox - Has better spec than the rest, games will be good (soon i hope)
•PS2 - Has alright specs, has good developers behind it (+reputation)
•SNES - Has the best games of all time. classic
•GBA - Its like a portable SNES, but with a smaller screen.
•GC - what can i say.... :S
Hope youve enjoyed me voicing my oppinion.

> I find no problems with the xbox controller, its way more comfatable
> then the GC. It ight be just the fact you have small hands so stop
> complaining ;)
I'll have you know my hands are actually larger than normal, as I'm quite a tall person. Here's how I judged the two:
I went into game and picked up a GC controller. It fitted snugly and extremely comfortably into my hands with lots of buttons in easy to reach places. I then picked up the X-BOX controller. It was awkward to hold, and I kept on having to adjust my grip. It looked and felt like the Dreamcast one, which I'm not to fond of either. It was also far to big. My verdict - the Gamecube controller is the most comfortable controller I've ever held, and has quality Nintendo innovation oozing from it. The X-BOX controller felt rushed and cramped.
But I like the sound of an alternative official controller to try out.
:-)
When I bought the X-Box at launch, I spent a lot of money getting the full works. ;-) Along with the console and games, I bought 3 extra controllers, a link cable and an advanced cable. :-)
So to add to that it'd be nice to have the controller S to add to my set up. ;-) Ok that sounds stupid but bah, I don't care. ;-p

Looks like Gameplay might know something we don't!

Here's me hoping, but it would be great if Microsoft decided to release the Controller S here!
