I reckon it should be legalised as it is not addictive and does not lead to harder drugs, although it would be hard for the government to tax.
opinions?
Phil
I'm not saying legalise dope.
I'm saying keep it illegal, not only for financial security reasons but just in case some pudwhapper decides to roll one and then goes on a one-off man-mental. Then we'd all get tarred with the same brush.
I'm just saying that alchohol causes more problems, socially and medically than smoking does.
And I find alchohol consumption in a social situation far more offensive than dope.
Groups of rowdy, too-loudly talking people boring the face of other people because they think they've suddenly become the most interesting and sexually sophisticated person on earth.
Wheras a room full of smokers sit quietly, talk gently and get the urge to discover the secrets of the universe set to good music.
But I have my views, you have yours and that's all good.
Also Taxation? :D lol, it wouldn't be possible on Cannabis, the few times i've heard people growing their own have been in their rooms or in their backgarden, the old guy that got caught a while back for growing his own Tobacco was only caught because he had half an allotment of it, his evil rival gardener was probably jealous, anyway, it would be almost impossible to tax it.
Also, I found out the other day, the Cannabis seeds arn't illegal until they're grown into seedlings, so all the online companies that sell them are legit. *cough* ... *leaves*
I know the argument that it leads to harder drugs is somewhat weak, as I certainly never moved on to anything else. But people who smoke the herb, should keep the smell of it to themselves, and hence, any legalised version should come complete with a "smoking hood" which covers the smoker like an astranaughts EVA helmet, and the smoke away from the crowd. I'm sure this wold also start a fashion craze of sorts.
Not that i want it legalised, as I'm fervently against it, unless a method of taking it can be found that is a) more sociable, and b) doesn't include tobacco.
As it stands, legalising the herb would ENCOURAGE use of tobacco based products, lead to more smokers, and hence more cases of lung cancer, heart disease etc etc, and so is generally bad for the health of the country.
I accept that alcohol is also bad for people, especially children, but it quite simply can't be removed from society, the US tried that, with disasterous results. Results which would likely be mirrored here were the same efforts to be made.

I agree, but kids have been sniffing glue, drinking, inhaling aerosols etc long before the issue of cannabis legalistaion arose.
It's nothing to do with the availability of it, it's to do with morons doing whatever they can get their hands on.
Besides, you could remove all the drugs in the world and some people would spin round and round until they fell down and saw things.
As for burning it in a room, it's a more pleasant aroma than cigarette smoke. Far sweeter, less harsh and generally more condusive to a relaxed atmosphere.
A time and place, yes, without question.
But not everyone (or "most people") that smoke "the herb" (amusing and pretty indicative of a non-smoker) let's it affect their lives to an extent that it interferes in anyway whatsoever.
Far less than drink does (which I don't do).
People go down the pub at lunchtime and come back not interested in working, yet not one smoker that I know of here or anywhere else, does that during the day.
Why?
Because you simply don't want to do anything else, you want to be somewhere nice and relaxed. Hence you save it until you get home/round a mate's house.
Dope is far less available than booze is, and kids make that a mission to obtain. I used to sneak sips of beer at school and pretend to be drunk, it's what kids do.
Wheras I never once was offered a joint.
As I see it, alchohol is a far more dangerous drug for "the kids" than dope.
It's certainly more readily available.
Leave weed illegal please.

All of the above points have been made from someone imagining what a person that breaks the law and illegally smokes cannabis would say.
Drugs are evil and against the law.
So much as one sniff of a roach and you will instantly want to snort charlie and ride "The Horse".
And you will probably want to bum-rape an old person and steal her money to buy more gear.
Just. Say. No
I do believe there is a time and a place for everythig, and gettin off yer box before school is probably not the greatest idea they ever had.
> You must hang around some pretty lame tokers.
Sorry to have to oppose you on this Goatboy, but regardless of what skokers I have or have not hung around, smoking the herb is quite plainly an extraordinarilly anti-social habit - you can't smoke it in any confined area without adversely effecting the anyone around you. Even if it doesn't get everyone involved stoned, the stuff absolutely stinks when burned, and is even less bearable than cigarette smoke.
Imagine though, if you will:
Kids today, sneaking off at break time for a quick fag behind the bike sheds or other appropriate area. Fair enough, hardly acceptable, but fair enough.

The law is an ašš, as they say.
Secondly, most people who have ready access to it, smoke it ALL THE
> TIME. Often causing them to ruin either a) their social life, b) their
> work life or c) their education.

??
You must hang around some pretty lame tokers.
I would imagine that other people smoke it with little effect to anything other than their ability to take life seriously and an appreciation of severely monged out music.
Being illegal means it's not subject to taxation and all manner of other nonsense that would invariably arise.
With it being illegal, you know £15 is alright for an eighth and it's not going to change in the near future.
Plus you don't need to worry about it being mixed with other crap.
Oh yeah, and drugs are bad and stuff.
