I reckon it should be legalised as it is not addictive and does not lead to harder drugs, although it would be hard for the government to tax.

A Freudian slip if ever I saw one.
Also another classic example of why we still campaign for an 'Edit my post button'.
How can you possibly tell a fully grown adult who, in theory, knows the effects of drugs not to do them. It's their body, their life, and their health. Why should it be socially acceptable to smoke tobacco, but not to smoke cannabis?
And before anyone asks, yes, I do think you should legalise all drugs. If people want to do them, they'll do so anyway. The best you can do is to educate people, and let them make the choice.
How can you pass judgement for someone who makes a choice what to do to their bodies? What should happen is educate people so that they can make their choice...
Insane Bartender, I have to completely disagree with your comments about drugs ruinning life...
I go to a fairy good public school, and MOST people smoke weed, tobbaco, and drink excessively. Yet these people WILL get all As at A levels, and have got offers to Cambridge. Do you think that people who smoke cigarettes wreck their life? Of course not!
And before you ask, no. I don't do drugs (although I do drinlk a bit too much).
Sonic
Cannabis can also help with some diseases my mum has MS and cannabis spray has been PROVEN to help against it. The government tested it and the patients went back to normal, but the government still didn't legalise it.
Alcohol is not dangerous as long as you doont like get drunk and continually drink every day i.e become an alcoholic.
I have never smoked a joint and don't intend to. I have the occasional cigar down the pub but thats it
so it's Yah from me.
Firstly because it's readily available now, you can carry enough to get by on without being arrested for dealing, and the government wouldn't be able to make an extortionate amount of money by imposing lots of tax on it.
Secondly, you'd be forcing a large proportion of drug dealers to find other ways of funding their criminal activities (prostitution, gun-running, terrorism, extortion, pirating, robbery etc.,) so they'd be forced to sell harder drugs in greater quantities to make up for their deficit.
And for the users who say to my second reason 'Hey, I get mine off my mate and he doesn't do any of these things,' have you ever wondered where he gets it from? If he grows his own, fine, if he doesn't, think about it.
Finally, having lived in the heart of Bristol for the last few years I've seen too many of my mates hooked so badly on their weed habit (note, not the weed itself, just the habit), that they can't get out of bed in the morning without sparking up a spliff, which means they tend to never get out of bed.
Plus my best mate Bart (a regular user) sucks at computer games now because his coordination is so shot to hell.
'and I ended up finding out all kinds of stuff about myself.'
*laughs out loud*

Is what I would say, if I was someone that wasn't me. I've never done it, you see.
I think drugs are bad but alcohol is good.
I have had some fantastic times on weed. No downer afterward, like with booze, and you are much less likely to do something you'll regret the next day.
I have had one fantasticly deep time. Started off feeling sick, so I sat down, and I ended up finding out all kinds of stuff about myself.
