I reckon it should be legalised as it is not addictive and does not lead to harder drugs, although it would be hard for the government to tax.

My point was not the crime, but the fact that people do not deserve the right to choose. Quite simply, the more freedom people are given, the more they abuse it. You say let people do what they want, and they will do anything their sick little minds can concieve.
Laws exist for a reason, and that reason is ensure that the average person cannot abuse either himself, or anybody else, without risk of punishment. Laws are their to protect us from other people, but also to protet us from ourselves.
Why do you think so many drugs are available only through subscription? Because if they were available by ordinary "over-the-counter" means, they would be used and abused by people to either dope themselves up, or to plant on other people to make them do it to themselves.
Society functions because of its laws. You take away the laws, you take away the function, and society very quickly follows.
To be honest, we need more laws, more controls, not fewer of them.
You see, I think people should be free to put whatever they want into their own bodies. Who are we to say to people what they can, and cannot, do to themselves?
However, if people get high, and then go and kick someone's head in, then they will of course be imprissoned.
This is NO DIFFERENT TO WHAT HAPPENS NOW! People can drink as much as they want, and it's fine. But when they infringe on someone else's rights, then they will be arrested (in theory!).
A view that is shared by the man who I think is possibly the greatest modern philospher of our generation- Moby. (Just read the insert to Play... it's full of some great philosophical and social points).
FM, you don't miss a thing do you!
