Sony reaches 30 million PlayStation 2 milestone
Sony says it has now shipped 30 million PlayStation 2 units worldwide.
It claims the milestone shows it is stretching its lead despite the arrival of rival machines.
Four million consoles have been sold since February.
President of the firm's American gaming subsidiary Kaz Hirai adds moves are afoot to improve the system.
He says hardware, software and online-gaming announcements will be made at the Electronic Entertainment Expo in Los Angeles later this month.

It is quite staggering when you think about it, 30,000,000 PS2's around the world already and it's going to be on sale for another 3 years at least.

Excellent news.....but I think we all knew that Sony wouldn't fail to reach that target.....still pretty staggering amounts!
