Sony reaches 30 million PlayStation 2 milestone

Sony says it has now shipped 30 million PlayStation 2 units worldwide.

It claims the milestone shows it is stretching its lead despite the arrival of rival machines.

Four million consoles have been sold since February.

President of the firm's American gaming subsidiary Kaz Hirai adds moves are afoot to improve the system.

He says hardware, software and online-gaming announcements will be made at the Electronic Entertainment Expo in Los Angeles later this month.

Woohoo! The first to notice!

It's a bit of both. I got a 'cube today. And of course I now own all three machines. So I'm cubed in all senses of the word. I just thought "To the power of 3" would be a bit less cryptic, so I changed it and decided to see how long it would take for someone to notice, and who it would be!

I'd give you a prize, if I had one!

I got Rogue Leader and Super Monkey Ball with it, both of which I played on a friends 'cube, and both of which are great.

I removed the space, but are you sure the "From" is meant to be included?

If they keep this level up, and get the online stuff working, they could make the online ads for the dreamcast seem like a reality. Didn`t they claim the whole world could play at once? 6 billion players... and all that. Well, rather than just 4 people, the PS2 could get a lot closer to that target.

Unless you`re British.
