Roadrunner held a funeral for nu-metal in Australia.

And proper rock is coming, mark my words.
No more will we have to listen to sulky blokes in big shorts with turntables telling you how hard school is or how much you hate your mum and stuff.
(Heard the new Papa Roach single last night, ends with the refrain "Life's not fair! Life's not fair! Life's not fair!", classic comedy)

No, true rock is coming. And it's coming wearing jeans, smoking unfiltered cigarettes, clutching a beer and refusing to leap about in videos.

And, for my money, leading the pack is a top, top band I just fell into called "Soil".
Think Pantera mixed with a bit of Clutch, some Prong.
Go download a tune called "Halo" to get a taste.
Essential ROCK.
Not nu-metal or "emo".

You all need to get some Seafood. Excellent group. Western Battle, Led By Bison and In This Light Will You Fight Me are all excellent tracks. It's got male and female vocals, y'see. It's light rock, and it rules.

Roadrunner suck, and they keep sending me a newletter no matter how many times I unsubscribe.

Glassjaw are the one good nu-metal band. They're not really nu-metal they just mostly fit into that box. They are angry and angsty but it's okay because the singer actually has something to be angry about, namely his Crohn's disease that leaves him hospitalised for long periods when it flares up and will probably kill him eventually. But then Anastasia has Crohn's and she didn't get angry... The singer looks like a psychotic Elvis Costello, they sound like Jeff Buckley doused in napalm and dragged through a field of broken glass, as NME eloquently put it, and their guitarist is pretty damn good.

Glassjaw are the future. You mark my words. They're signed to the corporate behemoth known as AOL-time warner now, so you can expect to be seeing them around a lot as the marketing machine goes into over-drive.

Incubus rule! :D
Then again, they're not exactly 'rock'.

I used a Mackie mixer and recorded onto ADAT and then onto Minidisc when it was mastered. Yes I am a lucky git as I have my own mixer and a couple of minidisc players to multitrack with. It was all live recordings btw - me and my lethal arsenal of guitars!
