I don't why I bought it, well yes I do I wanted to play games and the offer was so tempting but now I'm having second thoughts. I'm not having seconds thoughts on playing games but on whether I should return the Xbox to the shop and swap it for a Gamecube, I have until Saturday to do this.
The Xbox looks good and I am so tempted to open it but then I think, well its only a few days until the Gamecube launches and I so much want to play Lugi and Sonic.
Now your all thinking why didn't I wait and just buy a gamecube? Well I thought I had made my mind up on a Gamecube but then I saw a better deal for an Xbox and then when I went to purchases this 'better' deal, I got an even better deal, so in the end It was simply the price that determined my choice.
Now what should I do?, what would you do?
I have sat at home the aforementioned Xbox and copies of Halo, Max Payne, Dead Or Alive 3, Artic Thunder and Mad Dash Racing. I could either keep this or return it to the store. If I returned it the store I would have the £300 again to spend on a Gamecube.
So It's the value of the Xbox and the temptation of online Halo or kicking ten bells of s=== out of my mates with DOA 3
VS
The 'cuteness' of that little purple cube and hours of endless fun with Lugi and Sonic.
What is a man to do? Xbox or Cube Xbox or Cube Xbox or Cube ....... Help!
BTW Playstation 2 is out of the question, Been there done that and Now that's GTA 3 on the way for the PC, the PS2 has no appeal.
I don't think graphics determine a game, and I never said I do think that. I also agree that people who do decide which console is best based on graphics are not intelligent.
However, as I was using graphics as a benchmark of POWER, then I stand by what I said. Graphics is the number one element for demonstrating a console's power. Do you sit back and say 'Oh my god feel the playability! So much power!'? No. Do you say that for sound? No. The sheer power and processing capability of a machine is shown well by the graphics, and I hope you are intelligent enough to know this.
As for whether or not more power makes for a 'better' console, that is not true either. Well, not completely. A more powerful console does allow for more possibilities - could you play Crazy Taxi on a Mega Drive? No.
So, graphics not only demonstrate the power of a machine (don't even bother trying to deny that with your Gamecube lodged up your ar5e), but they therefore demonstrate to a degree what is possible on a machine. I would like to see game types be expanded upon with Xbox as it has the power to do so. No-one wants to play new types of games running at 1-5fps, so the Gamecube will have to stick to the more basic games that it can cope with. Running on the power of Xbox however the games will be running a lot more smoothly. :o)
That do ya?
> honestly though , i say get a gamecube , i have one and it kicks asss
> , excellent graphics..
Yes look. The Gamecube does have great graphics. They kick the ar5e off the PS2. They are excellent! But the Xbox's graphics are BETTER. It has more POWER behind them and so can do MORE.
What these people don't seem to realise is that there is more than 'good' or 'rubbish'. The Gamecube is not rubbish - it's good. However, the Xbox is BETTER.
> ..it's small enough to fit whereever you want !
HOW can that be a selling point? Where are people going to put their consoles? Yes, under their TV. Does anyone want/need a console in their ear? No. Up their ar5e? No. So, is there any point banging on about it being a little small? Nope.
> xbox has it's attractions , like the music thingy
Oh, here you mean the hardware's ability to decode Dolby surround sound in real time, which no other console is capable of? Or were you just talking about the higher number of sound channels the Xbox has?

You hit the nail on the head - Gamecube is for you if you are 14 or under. Any adults among you are better off getting an Xbox, unless you just have a fetish for small cute animals in spandex.

im not saying that they arent fun , im just saying that in general the majority of games on the gamecube at the moment are mainly fun to play , not that amped Project gotham , halo , jet set radio future , munch's odesye ..... (maybe i should get one) arent fun , far from it , i meant that the GC ones are based on being fun.
about the originality thing , so rehashes of mario and resi , PSO 2 , and port after port, what about :
pikmin
luigi's mansion
zelda (original look)
mario sunshine (he now has a water gun ;-))
super monkey ball
donkey kong racing
flippin kirby
animal forest +
loads more that ninty havent said about yet , all those from sega , and rare.
rpg's to come
zelda
final fantasy
vexx (is that rpg or adventure ?)
mario suinshine (same as above)
zelda OOT , back in a ganmecube re-take !! wahooooo !!!!
more to come of course.
i try not to dis the xbox , as i think it's a cool piece of kit , but i genuinly do prefer the gamecube , not because of the looks , or the controller or anything , i just like the games.

get a gamecube by all means but i do recommend you keep the xbox! i can't believe that people are still saying things like "it's pc anyway"...also to build a new computer costs a LOT more than just 200 pounds...now that IS THE MAJOR drawback...let alone crashes etc.

i'm sure it does have great games...i reckon i'm gonna get one (to complete my collection of next gen consoles :)). don't know about the controller jobby...i think the xbox one is great...but as i've seen many disagree just because they base it on looks.

when you say "i like to play.....FUN games"...are you implying that the xbox games aren't FUN...you honestly think i would shell out 200 quid and get games which aren't FUN?! as for originality...rehashing mario, resi evil is hardly THAT original...i'm not saying xbox oozes games that are original...but come on the gamecube doesn't really have that many original games...there aren't that many rpgs out for the gc if i'm not mistaken at the moment....of course i could be wrong.

judging from the fact that the original topic poster hasn't replied once...i think he's probably made up his mind by now!
honestly though , i say get a gamecube , i have one and it kicks asss , excellent graphics , great games , and great games too come , worlds best controller (except for the z button , but it's not too bad) it's small enough to fit whereever you want !
xbox has it's attractions , like the music thingy , and the occasional game that appeals to me , but like i just said , not that many games appeal to me , as a kid of 14 , i like to play RPG's , original and most importantly FUN games , all of which the gamecube offers.
if you want sonic and luigi , and probably mario , zelda smash bros ,etc , then get the GC , and if you can't even bring yourself to open your xbox , then thats saying something dont you think ;-)
