Quake 3, what's up with that?

I've tryed my hardest to like this game but I just can't find it in me, it's a great conversion don't get me wrong but what the heck is up with the controls?

They just suck, i've fiddled around with the sensitivity setting but it just sucks. The game's just crying out for an auto aiming system like Goldeneye, I can't see how ID could have over looked this. You just can't get the kind of pin point accuracy needed for Quake from an analog stick that you can from a keyboard and mouse combo. Half the time I just find myself firing wildly in hopes that maybe I can get a few shots on target.

Don't think i'm some PC games bum boy though, I love console 1st person shooters but this sucks most royally.
i'm stuck on the 3rd level of the Single player game and I really can't see myself getting any further unless I go out and buy a mouse and keyboard.

I'm just glad I only payed £5 for it....

On a happier note Tech Romancer rules everyone should own this game.

Well in the end, it all comes down to opinions. I love Quake III and Unreal Tournament and you hate them. That's fair enough.

Quake 3 smells worse than a Sumo wrestlers Jock Strap it's simple as that.

Its not that bad. :)

I just hope they dont make the same mistake with unreal championship on the xbox as im looking forward to that even more then ut on dc(which was alot!!).

UT had so much potential, 8-players on-line, all weapons have 2nd functions ala perfect dark what happened???, the dc can offer so much more then what infogrammes gave us, This is another reason the dc died so soon, most 3rd party developers, with the exception of capcom, couldnt be bothered to take some extra time on there games to push the dc, like the pc1 and n64 were.

Unreal Tournament just demands to be thrown in the bin, man. The quality/effort of the conversion is just unspeakably poor. I've seen more effort being made by a dog turding on the lawn.

Um...Tiltawhirl, did it ever occur to you that you can't kill anything on Quake III Arena because you're rubbish at it?

I find Quake III Arena, Outtrigger and Unreal Tournament all easy to play with both the keyboard / mouse combo and the control pad.

So what's up with you?

I agree, though would there be much point when the graphics are so blurred you can't really see your enemies?

Or when you do actually see them, the frame rate is so poor you can't lock your weapons onto them?
