I'm just the opposite in that Sega games rarely if ever appeal to me. The only Sega game I've bought in who knows how many years is Super Monkey Ball for the Gamecube.
I find most of their games of limited appeal due to their arcade roots - okay for a quick blast, but overly simple in the long term. Granted their are some exceptions, but it's more often than not the case.
Not saying they make rubbish games - just games that generally don't appeal to me. That's the main reason I never bought a Dreamcast.
Really JSR was one of the greatest new gaming experiences of modeern gaming for me which is why Microsoft has done wonders by nabbing that title.
Oh and why Daytona and not MSR?
Beat em up
Dreamcast - Soul Caliber
PS2 - Tekken 4
Platform
Dreamcast - Sonic or Jet Set Radio
PS2 - Jak and Daxter or Crash Bandicoot: Wrath Of Cortex
RPG
Dreamcast - Shenmue, Skies of Arcadia or Phantasy Star Online
PS2 - Final Fantasy 10
Racing
Dreamcast - Daytona USA
PS2 - GT3
Shooter
Dreamcast - Soldier of Fortune
PS2 - Soldier of Fortune
Light Gun
Dreamcast - House of the Dead 2
PS2 - Time Crisis 2
Sport
Dreamcast - NFL 2K
PS2 - Pro Evo
I think that covers the main genres at least. Not bad for a console that had little third party support and has been dead for awhile. In my opinion, the Dreamcast still beats the PS2 in some of the genres above.
So keeping this in mind, when Sega announce a new game for the X-Box - I pay attention because they are superb and they're giving plenty of attention to the Microsoft console.

I've owned both consoles. I prefer the Dreamcast.

Maybe so, but at the end of the day it all comes down to: What would you rather get: PS2 or Dreamcast?.(Honestly)
