Ok, I'm interested. Lets have a look at the kind of websites you've all designed. Perhaps post 2 or 3 of the ones your most proud of.

My 3 are...

www.andi.tk
www.l2productions.co.uk
www.lewq.2y.net/andi/iroko

The last one, IROKO, is still under construction, but i like the design of it and its different from my others.

So, post away, increase your hit counts and lets get some constructive critacism (sp?) going.

Then please read the thread. The entire thread is about the sites people have made, and mine are at the top of each page.

Tyla doesnt seem to be about mich but he'll tell you how important qualifications in webdesign are, as he has non and works as a professional web designer for a large company.

Whooo, not using Frontpage makes no difference. If you use Fireworks then fine. If you code it yourself then fine. You can even go and write your own web development application if you want - all that means is that you can program. I don't know what your sites look like so I cannot comment, but since my post was not directed at you I don't see why you've got your knickers in such a twist.

I've seen some sites on here and they look very nice. Which obviously means I'm not directing my post at these people too. The ones that I am directing it to are the ones mentioned in the post - the ones that use Frontpage (or any other lame application like this) or the ones that have had no experience in this field.

In future please try to stop yourself being insulted by posts that are not either aimed at you or include you.

Also please note the difference between website design and programming.

I'm sure your work is very professional and very nice, but unless you have had training or done extensive research into this, I cannot see how anyone can call themselves a web designer. I'm a programmer. I program Delphi, Java, Javascript, Pearl and C++. However, although I'm very capable of programming some nice effects for a website, and I know how to use Fireworks, Dreamweaver and Flash, I don't say I'm a web designer because I am not one. I have neither the experience nor the qualifications.

I hope this clears things up.

Ciao!

Just picked it up. Looks quality, I think I'll have to add an 'Animated' section to my site now :).

:-D

Well, I think that might have been me. I was just browsing some of the sites you had done, but I've got XP, not NT. Some of them are pretty cool, I especially like the logo for the Turbonuntter site.

Gar-J, I think your wrong, a lot of people in here do call themselves web designers including myself.

The reason I do this is because I design websites from scratch. I load up Fireworks and draw out a design of a site. Then I load up a text editor and code he site by hand, as most people on this forum do too.

You are assuming far too much, though we are not all profesional web designers (though some of us are) we know what we're doing.

Have you looked at the sites listed in this thread? Do they look like something made with Frontpage? I know the ones I've seen dont look like anything done in Frontpage, therefore i must assume you haven't even viewed the sites..

Please do not assume things, some may find your comments insulting.

There's a huge difference between designing a website and being able to use Frontpage Express.

Some of the pages floating around on the internet claim they have been 'designed', which is an insult to any true web designer.

It's like telling people you programmed a game all by yourself... when all you did was play it. It's not correct and it would really annoy the people who really did program the game, just as it must annoy web designers when people load up Frontpage for the first time and 'design' their first site.

I hope you are all reading up on things like alignment, negative space and communication? Or do you just import and place .jpg images of your family and pets on a page at random? There are loads of things that need to be considered before even sitting in front of the computer.

I am not a web designer myself so I am not here to dictate, but I know some of the things involved in web design and these basic principles are completely ignored by the majority.

I hope there are some proper web designers here who agree with or at least appreciate what I am saying. It must be very frustrating reading some of the stuff on here...

Hmm. During a mysterious upload I had a connection from a Claranet user, yet Apache had the IP as someone on NTL.

Curiouser and curiouser!
