But if you didn't take other people's advice, you would end up buying every GC game released. Oh, sorry Edgy, that's what you do, or you steal them from work anyway.

G-force gave Starfox a score of 93%.

I am glad I don't judge games on what someone else has told me though. Otherwise I'd be considered a sheep. Like those who bought the PS2 because all their friends did, or those who bought Nike trainers because their friends did. I'd rather try things out for myself and give them my own personal score.

Well, today I went and bought NGC mag. Looked in Edge too. Edge gave Starfox 6 out of 10. Also took the liberty of looking on IGN. They gave it 9.0 out of 10.

So it looks like the reviews are inconclusive. Some say it's great, others say its okay, but nothing special. Hmm, I'll still get it. If I'm left feeling empty after winning it I may trade it, but more likely I'd keep it anyway as a piece of history (last Rare game on a Nintendo console for the forseeable future at least).

CUBE give it 9.4/10, NGC give it 74%.. but soon it will be time for the most important score. On 15 November, Nintendo Official Magazine will cast the proper score, and this will decide it.

Poor NGC buyers..

wasnt that just because the game testers rushed so they could release it and rare could leave?

I remember when the shots of it came out, on the N64, and looking and thinking they are amazing..just looked at them and i was thinking, they are bad, shows what a diffrence the GC makes.
But if it stayed as dino planet wouldnt that mean there would be new characters for nintendo to use, unless rare would keep them, but now rare can use those characters anyway...confusing myself :S
Anyway, should have stayed dino planet becuase then another computer character will be about and also i think fox should stay in his airwing.

really they should have got the main bit sorted, control system ect, and then make a game each, its called starfox adventure..yeah could easily put a ":" after it and then rare make a game on its own and then add dinosaur planet after it, then nintendo make another game using same idea but diffrent planet and name it diffrent, then SK and other 2nd party developers could make more of the same games.
a story if you will.

Nah! Planet Gamecube said that Starfox was right out of place and that the storyline didn't tie in properly as a result.

All they did was replace ONE character with Starfox because the old character looked a little bit like him.
As it turned out, it didn't quite work.

Starfox will be more at home in his PROPER game when ...

Ah, so THAT'S the Namco game Dringo was talking about! :-)

I don't think it does.

Rare's characters were crap, so Nintendo said

"Change your crappy characters, use the Starfox team or something"

And they replaced the main character (who was a fox anyway!!) With Fox McCloud, and his advisor type people with Slippy and Peppy, in the Starfox ship instead of whatever else they were in, and Rob.

Then they change the ship he flew in to Fox's Arwing.

Slap in some Starfox references and it's done.

Wouldn't have taken anymore than 2 months work.

Which one? Soul Calibre?

Anyway, Starfox will be lovely but not as good as it should've been.
It should've stayed as Dinosaur Planet, and I think Nintendo and Rare both had different plans for it, sort of stretching it out of shape slightly.

I suppose that can account for many of the flaws.

Hmmmmm This is what I like, NGC's different ratings compared to CUBE.

I read CUBE and I was very suspect, NGC was raving about the first review and then CUBE beat them too it and write a review that isn't much about the game just how it is better than Super Mario Sunshine with not many reasons as to why it was better...

Could CUBE only have half hearted it to beat NGC and review a game a high mark it doesn't deserve?

I'll still get it but I am more keen on Namco's game to be honest.
