So, for the third time this year I'm wondering whether to buy an Xbox. First I was going to get one at launch - I sold my PS2 and all the games....but then changed my mind 5 days from launch and bought a new PS2. Then, in May, I nearly had one then, but bought a Gamecube instead which I really like. Now, it's October, I've just traded in the sixth new release in a row that I bought for PS2 (Hitman 2, previously Tekken 4, Deus Ex, Final Fantasy X, and a pile of others. I'm bored of being told how great Vice City is, The Getaway will be rubbish, and Tomb Raider has been put back til next year.

What's the game that's tempted me ? Splinter Cell, looks brilliant and totally excellent. Plus, though I haven't got Broadband yet, I'm seriously impressed by MS's Xbox Live - unlike Sony's plan its clear, has major games support, and there's a definite price for it which seems quite reasonable. On top of that I still want Halo, DOA3, PGR, Buffy, Jetset Radio, Ralisport, Sega GT2002, and a fair few others.

I've belittled Microsoft's console before, but I think this Christmas their are quite a few games there to impress people.

Er...and thats it really. Pretty pointless topic eh ? Just sitting around geting ready to snipe someone on Ebay he he :)

It is true that they are bringing in the S controller as the standard one with the console. Some MS exec said that the S controller has outsold the normal one by miles, so they're bunging that one in instead...well, in executive language. :)

You mention some games there that are fairly old, are there no old PS2 games to interest you?

Hehe. Yeah, ok. Thanks, I'd be interested to know what's in it, as there's also another rumour I heard that they'd be starting to phase in the Controller S by including it in the pack.

Just interested to know what's true, and what people have made up.

Well theres been very little about it in the PS2 mags, just vague notions its coming out. Besides it's not just Splinter Cell, its Xbox Live, Ghost Recon, buffy, Halo, GT2002, Unreal, PGR, DOA3 and a few more. Graphics on Splinter Cell will probably look best on Xbos anyway, gameplay is most important though.

I know Splinter Cell is exclusive at the moment, but not for long. Is it really worth slashing out on an Xbox for a game you could get in a few months anyway?

By the way, we already said this, so read the previous posts Silent85!

By the way, apparently, Gamestation will sell the Sega pack for £149.99. £10 cheaper than the RRP.

Also, from what I've heard, the two games will come on one single disk. So no trading them in :-)

The point was Belldandy said there were no games that looked good on PS2, but Splinter Cell is on PS2.
