Some one say about DVD loading times for movies? What, even my "old" brick of a dvd player loads movies up quick. Some discs are "slightly" longer than others, but we are talking a few seconds here, not 20 seconds. Also picks up and plays movies faster than my PC DVD drive.

OK, until we all have PVR's, I will agree that VHS does have "some" life in it. But I have to say that some of my prerecorded VHS tapes have lost quality over the years - and I am careful to look after them. And these tapes have not had 1000's of plays in that time.

Why we talking about DVD's in a Nintendo Gamecube post it's not like their console can play them.

DVD's are great, but i still have more tapes.

When recordable DVD players come down in price i will take them more seriously.

I've actually learnt quite a lot about the industry by listening to audio commentaries. Sometimes they just waffle on about the set design for the entire film, though

*cough* Die Hard *cough*

Bored the heck out of me, and both the blokes sounded almost identical, so you didn't even know who was speaking

There cool if you're an obessive movie geek that likes to hear how a Director set up a certain scene, or listen to the actors talk about something.

er...not that I'm a movie geek or anything.
And I like ordering Region 1 DVDs, packed with goodies and getting them up to 4 months before the UK VHS release of them.

But that's the sort of thing a movie geek would say.

All of which are useless to the majority of people, who don't have dece4nt enough TV's and audio setups to benefit from it.

If I'm in a rush to see something, I'll see it a week or two before it comes out in the cinema.

Firstly, it depends what DVD player you have, and secondly, there are FAR FAR FAR FAR more films available on VHS than on DVD.

> Yep, that DVD sure is a silly thing.

I never said it was, but it IS overrated.
