About 10 years ago I was introduced to a game called
Quest. It's an RPG PBM (that's Play-By-Mail), you would create this party of 6 characters and venture around this world doing the usual RPG stuff. To play the game you had to post orders on what you wanted your party to do. It involved using letters and numbers so it looked a bit confusing (ex. M 3334). After they received your orders and processed it, they would send you the results of what happened and then you would send in more orders. It was fun, I enjoyed it. Made a few friends and at one time use to get 15 letters a day. I think I might have been geekier than Rosalind back then (don't worry she wont read this heh) This was before everyone had the internet and mobile phones were still brickish.
I eventually tired of the game and by that I mean I just couldnt afford it. £2.something per turn was just too much. They've moved onto the internet now so turns are processed by email and so everything is a lot quicker than it use to be.
Well anyway, my reason for starting this thread and telling you about all this is because they offer a free demo. That's 20 free turns to play with. So I thought "what the hell" and so I'm now setting up a party for you guys on Freeola :) I'll sort out all the orders and results etc, you guys just create the characters, help decide some orders and enjoy reading what happens :D

Okay first we need 6 characters, I'll take one,
pb and Kawada you two are playing too :), so that leaves 3 characters left. I didn't want to force anyone else to play so if you would like to join please do. Little effort or time is needed so come on. :) if no one else joins I'll just pick some people and use their names anyway heh.If you would like to play and Kawada and pb you'll have to do this too. Could you please do the following;
1.
Name your character (you could use your username)2.
Choose a race for your character3.
Choose a class for your characterUnfortunately we can only have 1 of each, so no 2 human fighters etc.
Suggestions : I can't remember everything but what I can recall was that it's best to only have 1 thief and halfbloods make the best ones. Dwarfs are good fighters, elves are good mages, you get the idea. Just be whoever or whatever you want really :)
I'll post a description about each race and class so you can decide.

Party Name : Ivalice Force1.
Prime Halfblood Fighter (Machie)2.
Boulder / Dwarf Fighter (pb)3.
Robin Human Thief (Kawada)4.
Echo / Elf Priest (Vexxxed)5.
Ambaria Narseek / Elf Mage (snake11)6.
Dead Spiders / Human Priest (Mumbai Duck) So this next turn I think will involve a lot of healing everyone especially Robin. Then might go into the town and buy you two some more armour, and perhaps a crossbow for Robin as he's much better with it than a sword. We saw how well Echo did with his bow instead of a sword. Killing all those cavemen and goblin.
Then we might kill that hobgoblin and then travel to city which will hopefully have more things to do.
I was quite impressed by Dead Spiders and his spell casting, especially that Wrath of Sundonak which turned that caveman leader into a crisp heh.
Why do I keep on retreating?

okay then, now we decide what we are going to do next turn.
Prime and Ambaria Narseek are pretty banged up at the moment, so I would suggest our two priests heal them.
I'm still trying to figure out how to use the missile weapons before we attack. Then I suggest we set some spells that will be cast just before a battle, these might be Strength or terror.
The only two things that might be worth stealing or attacking again, are the cavemen which have a number of 4, 1 seriously hurt and 1 slightly hurt. I feel we can kill them all if we use some spells to help us.
Then we could go down and attack the 2 Centaurs, those are the half horse half men people. We could either attack them too or just send Robin to go steal from them. It depends how well things go against with Cavemen, but with no children, Boulder should be a little more useful :)
It's because they didn't have beards, you know...
> Man, being the priest is kinda sucking...true I only got a graze,
> but damn, why am I always the one that leads the retreat?!

lol, I think elven priests arent very brave so if anyone is quick to run away it's you :) I'm suprised you didn't lose any health.
If we decide to go back and attack the 4 remaining cavement then I suppose we could use you to cast a spell at the beginning. Let's see what good ones you have.
BERSERK
With this miracle the priest fills his party with reckless courage. They will fight against overwhelming odds and their obvious determination will often daunt a timid foe.
Unlike the mage spell BATTLE LUST the party are not totally consumed by their recklessness and will still recognise the party retreat factors set prior to battle.
TERROR
A simple miracle which places fear in the hearts of the chosen target. A novice priest will lower an enemy's morale or cause craven creatures to flee. When used by a more powerful priest this miracle can cause instant death from pure terror.
Terror might be a good one, as we'll outnumber them 6 to 4 thanks to pb killing the children. Which by the way I find odd, he's the strongest character we have and we even gave him his best weapon an axe and he still went for the children heh.
I want to stay there and batter someone with my 'God Stick'!!
