About 10 years ago I was introduced to a game called
Quest. It's an RPG PBM (that's Play-By-Mail), you would create this party of 6 characters and venture around this world doing the usual RPG stuff. To play the game you had to post orders on what you wanted your party to do. It involved using letters and numbers so it looked a bit confusing (ex. M 3334). After they received your orders and processed it, they would send you the results of what happened and then you would send in more orders. It was fun, I enjoyed it. Made a few friends and at one time use to get 15 letters a day. I think I might have been geekier than Rosalind back then (don't worry she wont read this heh) This was before everyone had the internet and mobile phones were still brickish.
I eventually tired of the game and by that I mean I just couldnt afford it. £2.something per turn was just too much. They've moved onto the internet now so turns are processed by email and so everything is a lot quicker than it use to be.
Well anyway, my reason for starting this thread and telling you about all this is because they offer a free demo. That's 20 free turns to play with. So I thought "what the hell" and so I'm now setting up a party for you guys on Freeola :) I'll sort out all the orders and results etc, you guys just create the characters, help decide some orders and enjoy reading what happens :D

Okay first we need 6 characters, I'll take one,
pb and Kawada you two are playing too :), so that leaves 3 characters left. I didn't want to force anyone else to play so if you would like to join please do. Little effort or time is needed so come on. :) if no one else joins I'll just pick some people and use their names anyway heh.If you would like to play and Kawada and pb you'll have to do this too. Could you please do the following;
1.
Name your character (you could use your username)2.
Choose a race for your character3.
Choose a class for your characterUnfortunately we can only have 1 of each, so no 2 human fighters etc.
Suggestions : I can't remember everything but what I can recall was that it's best to only have 1 thief and halfbloods make the best ones. Dwarfs are good fighters, elves are good mages, you get the idea. Just be whoever or whatever you want really :)
I'll post a description about each race and class so you can decide.

Party Name : Ivalice Force1.
Prime Halfblood Fighter (Machie)2.
Boulder / Dwarf Fighter (pb)3.
Robin Human Thief (Kawada)4.
Echo / Elf Priest (Vexxxed)5.
Ambaria Narseek / Elf Mage (snake11)6.
Dead Spiders / Human Priest (Mumbai Duck) I think the Terror spell might be causing the enemies to flee too soon. Maybe if we didn't cast it, they'd stick around long enough for us to finish them off?
Maybe we could try out Strength or Flame instead?
I'd suggest we stick healing in somewhere, at least for a turn or two. It sounds like a few of us could use it.
The p***y spells... Yeah perhaps, but I like them. If you're overwhelmed by the opponents, taking one out of the battle instantly is as good as an instant kill, and getting one to fight on your side is even better.
Maybe something to experiment with when we have spare points and stuff.
Do we all move towards the gods together, or can we have a good priest and an evil priest? I want Ythcal to see me as an adopted son :^)
Kawada finally did some stealing, got us some money back and we ran into another set of goblins :)
Because we've gotten tougher and some of us are using missle weapons (because they're better at them) we totally kicked the goblins' butt! I don't think they even got a hit in. Unfortunately we only managed to kill the one of them and the rest ran away.
Kawada ran off this time because he was still injured.
The hobgoblin we were planning to attack moved off while we were fighting the goblins, so we could go after him, or go after the centaurs again. Try and finish them off this time.

The assigned spells, is the order of spells you cast when we enter a battle :) you can enter certain conditions on when to use them. For instance, Wrath of Sundonak was very powerful and killed the leader Caveman instantly, it could be used for more stronger opponents. You have to bear in mind that each miracle costs points and we've used up a lot already, so hopefully we can regain some.
Healing can be useful especially during a battle when we're already getting hurt, might be good to have that as a second or third spell. Manna isn't very useful as we should be finding lots of food. Strength, Beserk and Flame I think would be a great help. Ythcal's Touch would be good against the really tough ones. You have to bear in mind that whatever spell we use, brings us closer to that god. So if we're using healing alot, we'll move closer to that god and away from the more evil gods. So I've been trying to balance it all out.
Feel free to suggest some miracles to have in your spell order :D if we don't have enough spell points the character wont cast the more powerful spells like Ythcal's Touch.
Charm and sleep? I think they're the p***y spells, we'd probably run away after we did it rather than kill them while they sleep I think. Not really sure actually.
Sort of.
What's the deal with the 6 spells you can assign?
If I were to pick, I'd like:
Wrath of Sundonak - looks useful
Sleep or Charm (are we/I evil enough to kill them while they sleep?)
Healing or Manna (manna generates food, which restores health, might be a lame roundabout way of doing health.)
Strength or Flame (Not sure whether boosting ourselves would be better than weakening the enemy).
Not too fussed about the others. Though Ythcal's Touch looks good for when we're taking on tough enemies.
Nah, I was only checking it out, and thanks a lot but you don't need to be worrying about that... You seem to be getting enough problems from *ahem* cavemen...
I did turn 4, wasn't as good but we ran into another lot of goblins, one good thing, Robin finally had sucess and stole a nice bit of money from a shop. Nice one Kawada.
We have a lot of money but not enough to buy a decent character for you yet Cruciatum Fixative :( might be worth getting you as a fighter, they seem to get more action than mages.
