I've downloaded some Snes (and MegaDrive) emulators onto the school networks. Everythings in place, only I want a standard set of games to get.

Although I can think of hundreds of great single player games, this being at school, I want the focus on multiplayer. It's only two player but that's fine.

So tell me, what are the Snes multiplayer classics?

I've got:
StreetFighter 2 Turbo
Bomberman 3 (one bomberman game is enough so don't recommend other ones)
Dragon Ball Z Hyper Dimension
Mario All Stars (for Mario 3's battle game)

I've even put Donkey Kong Country, Super Mario World and Super Metroid on too, although I might take them off...

So what are your Snes (and MegaDrive) multiplayer recommendations.

And don't you DARE recommend me a single RPG!
Yes, Harvest Moon, Final Fantasy, Zelda, they're all classics, but they encourage people to hog the computer!

Thank you. :-)

Is Earthbound the game where at the very start you have to name and give likes and dislikes to a group of kids? If that's the game then I would say it's fantastic. Though setting up the kids personalities at the start of the game felt just a little long!

Earthbound is fantastic, I downloaded it again yesterday, I never did complete it the first time!

But it is! As a multiplayer experience it's second to none. The amount of treachery in MK64 is shocking! It actually compensates if you're not doing well and results in a more balanced and frenzied game! The amount of times me and my mates had 4 players games on it are too numerous to mention.

Getting back to SNES games - what about Smash TV? That was a great game...

I've never played Earthbound. Is it any good?

Both are classics in their own right. I think the Snes version is more so Becuase It was/is retro kart racing at its best on the snes. Moving along a flat floor at steady speed until you hit a speed ramp that takes you up to 120 mph! Well, I'm not sure how fast it takes you up to but you get the idea.

Does anyone remeber Street Racer on the Snes? Its rival that matched it in every way and did a few new tricks of its own. I think its right next to Maro Kart on the all time classic level.

But coming back to Mario Kart 64. I'd say it is still a great game never or less. It just had big boots to fill.

You must be wearing your salty Y-fronts on your face if you think N64 Mario Kart is better than the SNES version.

I don't know about anybody else here but I have always found that the graphics of emulated games don't look like the same as the originals. Infact, the graphics of emulated games that I've seen shows to be a poor representative of the originals. With a 'soft' look to the graphics being the main imperfection.

I would like emulation to work. I really would.

Unirally- tried that one but the emulator couldn’t run the splitscreen mode properly, which was a shame.

NO RPGs – It’s not that I don’t like them, it’s that because people hog them for hours on end – not suitable for school computers. I’ll TRY Secret of Mana because it’s 2 player, but it might find itself being deleted.

I tried Mario Kart but it’s not really gone down to well. I think that most of us are used to the N64 one…

Don’t worry about the Snes pad. I’ve made a keyboard set-up that is more than suitable for most games, even beat’em ups. It’s actually easier to pull off special moves in some cases…

Thanks for all the recommendations so far, I’ll be downloading a fair few of them later. Keep ‘em coming! :-)
