Well, no doubt MS believed they got a bargain, but it is emerging that Nintendo offloaded them because of the failing quality of their work.

They spent 3 years developing Star Fox, and by all accounts, it's a linear piece of toss.

What was it? 5 quality games in 2 years?

HAAHHAAAHAAHA!

Seriously though, discuss...

I don't wanna get involved in this argument but I have to say Metroid is looking rather purty.

Even the PS2 guy on IGN who up until now hadn't taken the Cube serioulsy said it was reason enough to buy a Cube and one of the best games for a long time.

I can't wait!!!!!

It just never appealed to me, my favourite game on SNES was always Jurassic PArk, great game :) And Super Probotector, and Starfox, and the Mario's.

I will probably buy it, very little else out at the same time anyway. I don't doubt it will be good, just HOW good.

I can show you similar for many many products that you would still dislike. Take Stuart Little 2, Scooby Doo films as just one of many examples possible.

Playing it, myself, at home, and still playing it a week later, having not removed it from the console for a week. That's true greatness, recent qualifiers have been Halo, Buffy, Conflict Desert Storm (PS2) Timesplitters 2 (GC), Waverace (GC) Pikmin (GC) and THPS3 (GC), and Perfect Dark and Goldeneye on N64. I never had an N64 but went out and bought one couple of months back to play some of the old games I wanted to have when I was younger.

Halo 2 is scheduled for Q3 in USA, Q4 Europe, so you're looking at 10 months US, 6-8 Europe.

Straight ? Have you played Halo all the way through ? I'm constantly amazed by how I manage to find the right way on the gigantic levels, Assault on the control room alone lasted ages, and the final three levels are amazing, so much to do, and see, and go.

Far better because of online play was what I intended to say, oops :)

PS, what is Maverick on about the Wavebird being on the way for ? It's out...

This is something GameCube owners in Europe are getting pretty annoyed about. Sure, Nintendo have provided us with a shedload of games - but now they have to tell people about it!

There's Microsoft, swimming in money, after frequent price drops, bundles, and the purchase of a new developer (Rare) all in the media with blitz advertising schemes too - and they're raking in the sales. Then there's Nintendo... *coughs*

But the future looks bright. The Waverbird's out soon, advertising is becoming more common, Nintendo HAVE to combat MS + Sony with a price drop soon and then there's their online plans that Microsoft are apparently very worried about...

Not exactly. I thought Perfect Dark was a real letdown - hence my not buying it.

Look - I just presented the facts, and said to keep an open mind. Hell, I liked Starfox too, which many people hate. What more do you want for crying out loud?

umm...so lots of reviews by large internet games media, actual consumers opinions and American sales figures mean absolutley nothing?

Just a quick question, what do you consider to be evidence of it's greatness?

A national holiday every year to celebrate it's release?

and that comparing it to

But by the time Halo 2 comes out, Metroid will have been out a year...

Besides, I'll like it better because I prefer the FPS/Adventure style of MP, rather then the straight and tired FPS-ness of Halo.

Yes, had it on day of release, came in a large box with a guide book didn't it ? It was good, but I never saw the attraction of it. For me, the olny FPS games to totally engross me have been all the Rainbow Six games in PC, Operation Flashpoint on PC, Medal Of Honour Frontline on PS2 and Halo on Xbox.

You said I was spouting crap about Halo 2 and Metroid, go read what you put ! Anyway, my point is that we're assuming Metroid is the best game ever based on nothing more than online reviews, a few people who have imports, and American press reviews, and that comparing it to Halo is a bit easy because Halo is a 1 year old game in the USA. The real challenge is going to be can Metroid beat Halo 2 ? FPS games are rather short on the GC so Metroid, against little competion, is bound to score well, but as Starfox has shown, review scores aren't always true...

Rofl, Silent looks like you have gained a cult status.

Gamecube is excellent, If I had the money i'd have an Xbox and a Gamecube, but i'm focusing on Xbox for now. Although I do think Nintendo have pretty much neglected the console ever since the launch of it.

Pikmin is fun same as the other games that were out on release, Mario Sunshine is good, No Mario 64 though.

Still Rare my have fecked up a little on Starfox, We'll have to see what happens.

Most probably yes...

When a game from a developer wheich everyone has faith in turns out to be completely rubbish, you've gotta worry!

People have been doubting Rare for ages after they had loads of people leave/join the company...

Again, another one of your one line classics!
