Why are contact lenses so difficult to put on?

I only have them for the skiing season though.. fortunately but it's a nightmare.. one second the screen is fine the next its a white blur...
If i were to put on a contact, would have poked my eye REALLY HARD just trying to put it on... ahh the pain... blood dripping like hot cheese... God the horror.
They get better. When I first wore contact lenses I was in agony, and I couldn't see very well at all. After a week or two, they were only occasionally irritable. They still never worked with my eyes though, so I had to cancel the deal and get more specs again >:O/ I'm now wondering if it wasn't because I went to a crap high-street opticians rather than a private practise, but I like my new specs for the time being.
Worst thing that ever happened with my contact lenses was them often falling out...I walked around London for a whole day wearing them, then 5 minutes from home on the way back one of them decided to commit suicide for no reason. I also had one evacuate on a bike ride - I had to cycle 14 miles home squinting out of one eye.

bloody hell.. I'm wearing them now.. and when I look at the screen my vision fuzzes up.. Is that meant to happen?
