Ok, me and a mate are on a mission to reclaim rock from pantywaist nu-metallers with turntables and little boys in baseball caps.

We have drums (me) and guitar (him).
What we need are another guitarist and a bass player.
And a vocalist, although the ability to shout without breaking off into coughs is more important than holding a tune.

Think Fudge Tunnel/Soulfly/Nailbomb/Pantera/Biohazard style of "ROCK" with much grimacing and angry standing with legs wide apart on stage.

I have Parker for my sensitive guitar side, now I want some men to rock like men and appeal to my savage nature.
Or, as mate put it "Music to hurt yourself to".

Essex Area essential for get togethers/drinking/fighting like rock men.

Snuggly, monkeyman, I'm looking at you.
Do not desert your rock when it needs saving from ponces

I can't believe the unbelievable cack you are coming out with small frog! Whatever happened to talent? If anyone's gonna sample tunes, shouldn't it be the band? Not someone sitting in an office going "Yeah, I think it would sound nice with a sample of 'L'Amant Jaloux', kids like that don't they?". Most studios use programs like Cubasis, or Fruity Loops anyway.

Sampling doesn't require mixing at all, it's just that, sampling.

And even the rudimentary guitar/bass/drums require mixing to sound anything like listenable, otherwise you're left with guide tracks that sound muddy and unfinished.

I can produce a song of pure sample in 1hr on Music 2000 on the PS2.
I cannot produce a song of pure instrument playing without first learning the instrument.

Anyway, sampling can be used to good effect.
This thread is for musicians that can play real instruments and are fed up with seeing rock hijacked by boy bands like Linkin Park, Papa Roach and...*snigger*..OPM

Ah. I see you agree with me on that point. Nu-metal does suck, but I still think credit should go to their production teams. They're the people that do all the work.

And I replied to this topic because I wanted to make an opinion known, just like you. So relax.

It requires studio mixing. You know, stuff like sampling. If it's a guitar band, but the tracks have pianos and strings in them, it has been sampled by a production team.

Pure rock, on the other hand, is just performed and recorded. This can be considered a good thing, or a bad thing.

Don't blame me mate, I didn't vote for me.

And it's just my opinion, doesn't mean I'm right - I just write how I feel, but I don't expect others to agree with me.

And nu-metal does suck, without exception.

Besides, nobody forced you to respond in this thread, form your own band if you feel that strongly.

There can never be too many ROCK bands.
Not nu-metal tossery, but ROCK.

Why is nu-metal harder to produce?

There's one thing I still don't get about you, Goatboy. You are a notable - supposedly a respected member of the SR community. Yet you consistently deride and mock anyone with different tastes to your own. Since I like both Nu-metal and pure rock, I can see both sides of the argument, but why do you have this disability to appreciate other people's tastes. Pure rock has a better sound, but nu-metal has a much higher quality of production - with bands like L*nkin P*rk, I admire and respect their sound production team, even though I think the band themselves are a bunch of pathetic wannabes. The most pointless thing in the world is a DJ on stage when other musicians are performing.

In general, nu-metal is harder to produce, and deserves appreciation for that, but pure rock is more fun. And you can 'hurt yourself to it'.

And Fred Durst should be shot.
