"Nintendo is set to file suit against Sony next week, declaring that the Playstation brand, and all of the profits made by Sony from it's sale, belong to Nintendo. While reading over the original contract between Sony and Nintendo (Sony were to make a CD drive for the Super Nes, entitled the Playstation), a lawyer for Nintendo noticed some key wording which showed that it was Sony's responsibility to make the drive, and that they broke the contract, not Nintendo, like initially believed.

According to sources, Nintendo is almost assured a victory, gaining all the profit's made by Sony off the Playstation since its introduction in 1996. Even if Nintendo do not win outright, they are guaranteed the rights to the Playstation name, and Sony will have to immediatley change the name of their console."

This is what will make Nintendo systems go flying from the shelves people. The "Nintendo Playstation," people won't know the difference, unsuspecting customers everywhere will be buying Nintendo, thinking that it's Sony. Sony is in a world of hurt."

Reports from sources all over are coming in that Nintendo are taking Sony to court. Well, due to an interesting conversation on the Edge forums, Nintendo have most likely already settled with Sony, because nobody makes a huge announcement that they're taking somebody to court - they make the announcement after a settlement or court ruling.

Too true, there are a lot of assumptions being made based on very little real facts. The images on the site, Mario, Sonic, Megaman, look a little bit too pixelated arond the edges for my liking, like a copy and paste job onto a white box...plus the real news sites have no news of this.

Someone is saying Sony could lose 20 trillion from it ? This'd wipe out share prices at the slightest hint if there was a real truth to it. But are shares crashing ?, no. Are Sony uttering denials ? No. Are Nintendo saying anything officially ? No. Everything relies on that one image being genuine, and that in itself does not prove the Playstation name case, nor does it prove that Nintendo own or have bought Capcom and Sega - it just says Nintendo will have Megaman and Sonic games.

So, I think there is too much wishful assumption going on, based on too little fact. Wait and see what happens, 'cause even if it is all true, Sony aren't going to roll over and die, they have shown a tremendous past ability to fight lawsuits and such to the death. Can Nintendo afford a long drawn out court fight as it fights off Microsoft and Sony ? If pushed, Sony could bring about massive price changes to cripple Nintendo's own console.

I personally think Sony and Nintendo should join up again, to make their next console, and then we'd be in gaming heaven! All the Nintendo titles on the console, aswell as all the games that would normally only be released on the Sony console. Gaming greatness!
