"Nintendo is set to file suit against Sony next week, declaring that the Playstation brand, and all of the profits made by Sony from it's sale, belong to Nintendo. While reading over the original contract between Sony and Nintendo (Sony were to make a CD drive for the Super Nes, entitled the Playstation), a lawyer for Nintendo noticed some key wording which showed that it was Sony's responsibility to make the drive, and that they broke the contract, not Nintendo, like initially believed.

According to sources, Nintendo is almost assured a victory, gaining all the profit's made by Sony off the Playstation since its introduction in 1996. Even if Nintendo do not win outright, they are guaranteed the rights to the Playstation name, and Sony will have to immediatley change the name of their console."

This is what will make Nintendo systems go flying from the shelves people. The "Nintendo Playstation," people won't know the difference, unsuspecting customers everywhere will be buying Nintendo, thinking that it's Sony. Sony is in a world of hurt."

If it turns out to be true, I would let out one big and very long HAAAA at all you Sony fans.

It's all balls. It'll probably end up with Nintendo being given a few hundred or something. Anyway, if Sony invented the Playstation name, then Nintendo can do squat.

That won't happen, they wouldn't have to recall every console. It would only be Nintendo would have the profits.

The PS2 does have the name 'playstation 2' engraved under the PS2 logo.

Anyway my thought on this, well if it is true and nintendo do sue Sony, then I don't expect we'll see a quick sttlement. Sony have made a fortune on the Playstation, I doubt they'll give up anything related to the console without a long, drawn out fight.

Oh the hilarity of it all.

Daft question, and I might be wrong, but doesn't the PS" only actually say PS2 on it, I don't think it actually says Playstation 2 on it anywhere...

If that turns out to be true, will they send around some men in suits who come into our houses, trash our PS2s and give us free new consoles?

Plus, I doubt it'll matter. Sony still have the most games. Plus, most people already have one anyway.
