It's not going to change your life.
It's not going to end world hunger.
It's not going to ensure you have a healthy sex life.

I'm just warning you, because I can already see what's going to happen when it comes out.
People screaming that this is the 2nd coming, and other people saying it sucks.
And there will be much wailing of voices and gnashing of teeth.

Let's look at the general comments from reviews all over the place:

It *is* a good game but it has it's faults. Too many cut-scenes. I've heard this from loads of people, they break into the flow of the game and begin to grate after a while.
Too easy to complete.
Now I'm not slamming this game, so put your toys back in the pram, just saying that with this amount of hype, it can't possibly live up to everything you think it will be.
I've read from a hell of a lot of sites that the ship level is the best one, the one on the demo. So personally, I'll be waiting to see opinions here before I rush out and get it.

I think the hype has damaged this game tremendously, it can't possibly match what you're expecting.
I don't doubt it's a good game, but I just can't see it approaching the levels of fervour it's generating here.
But I know what will happen, someone will say "I didn't enjoy it that much" and will be drowned out by the fanatical screams of "HOW DARE YOU!".
I've seen a heck of a lot of movies now of MGS2, and it's looking very familiar to the 1st game.
There's even a section where you have to take down a helicopter using a rocket launcher.

I enjoyed the demo, but for me the best bit of it was getting under a box and scuttling about whilst humming the Benny Hill chase-music.
I didn't really care about shooting the guards or pressing myself against the wall, it was all about hobbling along with comedy music in my head.

So it's out in what..2 weeks? Hurrah, I'll rent it from a video-chain store to see if it's worth my money.
I just think this has been shot in the foot by people talking it up without having played it.
That's never a good thing and can only do more harm than good.

And I fully expect squads of irate people chasing me through the village with flaming torches because I dared to say "Hold it a moment" about MGS2.

I never get that hyped these days. Too many dissapointments to date. South Park probably being the pick of the bunch.

Only game to ever match the hype for me was Zelda:OOT.

I'm not thinking MGS2 will be some sort of "Utopia."

You know, Sony Forum is turning into a complete junkyard at the moment anyway...

I loved the first game. I've been playing a demo of it that I got the other day and it still rocks. Sometimes I even find myself speaking to the people, going "die, die, why won't you die". Oops, did I just say that out loud!?

Is that 3% of a minute? What 1.8 seconds? Hardly enough time to get past the start screen....

They gave South Park 90%ish.

I don't think I've found that yet, a reviewer that I can rely on. Well, except some 'customer reviews' on this site.

Maybe NOM would be my level?

Yup, completely. Nobody can tell you what you like, or what you don't like... it is really down to you.

Basically, I try to find reviewers with same tastes and judgements in games as I have. Much easier that way.

To be honest, to all the people that do think it's going to be a trip into paradise, I hope they really do get shocked. Be a bit of an eyeopener for them.
