I hae recently looked on the Q&A at http://www.cube-europe.com/misc/qa.html , and they say that using imported cube controllers and memory cards could damage the cube and won’t work.
Q: What do you think about Nintendo's decision to release GCN with only 3 controller colours? I don't like this, as I like a different colour for each player. So would it be safe to import that clearpurple one from the U.S. and use it on my PAL-GCN, as that one isn't coming out over here?
A: First of all, it wouldn't be safe, as it wouldn't work, and might damage your GCN beyond repair. Secondly, a plethora of coloured controllers will undoubtedly be making their way over here, so don't worry about not having enough choice! Remember, you could only get a grey N64 controller at launch!
Does anyone KNOW whether it is safe to use imported controllers and memory cards on a PAL cube.
Please help,
Regards
SINFIELD
I'm sure that it will be fine importing.
It didn't effect the N64. I have been told that the US and Jap controllers worked on PAL N64's.
In what way could it damage it beyond repair?
It's not exactly going to effect the reading of the discs?
Nintendo Gameboy advances are universal, so I'm sure that the imported gamecube controllers and memory cards, coming from the same factory as the PAL ones, will work on the PAL cubes.
What will nintendo change in the memory cards and controllers anyway? There's no change in design?

Nah, I don't believe it! Why would Nintendo actually tell us anything?? And if it's true, it probably won't happen for another 2 years or so!
I never really thought before that an imported periphal could damage the console. So maybe I won't be importing any pads, and i'll just stick to buying them from SR.
I hope that for people who've already imported pads, that they do work and don't ruin your machines beyond repair! :)
Think about it....
Nintendo wants the REAL figures...
Nintendo DO NOT want to know how many controllers have been bought in japan and used in the UK, they want to know what the public is using...
P.s. I'm probably talking rubbish right now but you get my point dont you?
It worked alright on the N64, why should the Gcube be any different?
The Jap peripherals work on the US system and US peripherals work on the Jap System.
I'm going to keep the imported things I've got anyway.
Hmmmmm indeed.
