I have imported a US gamecube controller and a JAP memory card for my PAL cube when it is released in may.

I hae recently looked on the Q&A at http://www.cube-europe.com/misc/qa.html , and they say that using imported cube controllers and memory cards could damage the cube and won’t work.

Q: What do you think about Nintendo's decision to release GCN with only 3 controller colours? I don't like this, as I like a different colour for each player. So would it be safe to import that clearpurple one from the U.S. and use it on my PAL-GCN, as that one isn't coming out over here?

A: First of all, it wouldn't be safe, as it wouldn't work, and might damage your GCN beyond repair. Secondly, a plethora of coloured controllers will undoubtedly be making their way over here, so don't worry about not having enough choice! Remember, you could only get a grey N64 controller at launch!

Does anyone KNOW whether it is safe to use imported controllers and memory cards on a PAL cube.

Please help,

Regards

The Spice Controller rocks. I just got mine from Canada. If you like things to be different then get a spice controller and a copy of Animal leader ;)

Bit of a relief really.

It does seem pretty ridiculous though that it is actually cheaper to import a controller from canada (worked out to £23 for me, instead of £25), and get it shipped over, than just to buy one here.

Then again, now i have one, i'll get sr's jedi bundle (2 controllers) as i'd get the rest of the package anyway, so it's like getting a third controller for £15, and i don't want to have 4 as i'll be waiting for a wavebird (wireless) to complete the set.

Now then, indigo or black... indigo or black... daddy or chi.. um.. hmm.

Your gamecube will be fine, along with the rest of us!

Or†ega, I'm in the same situation. This is the first console I have decided to purchase on release. I can't stop thinking about it!

It's so exciting to think that in under 2 months, we will have our cubes that we have waited so long for!

GOOD NEWS.....

cube-Europe have just updated there Q&A and have this to say on the matter:

"I made a mistake in last weeks Q&A, to which I received a few emails, and to put things right, both American and Jap controllers work on a European GCN. "

so I'm happy they now agree.

But another thing, memory cards!

This question was placed on the new Q&A there:

"Q: why wont jap memory cards work on a uk gc?? - Nick Rowland (i'm getting annoying now!!) (so am I!-GCG)

A: Because an NTSC memory card wont be able to save a PAL game, due to different regional issues. You can get them adapted to save the game though."

Now I thought that Japanese and US memory cards were compatable with PAL cubes if they hadn't already been inserted (and formatted) by an NTSC console?

You can't save US games on a Jap formatted card and vice versa. So, won't that be the same for PAL cubes?

Am I correct?

sorry, didn't explain myself properly, If your peripheral goes wrong, and you've imported, you have to send it back to the country of origin.

the only reason why you shouldn't import is beacuse you will have to send it back to the country in which it was made.

they are all made in the same place by the same people!
