Talking to a real nerd today, no idea why he started talking to me, but he got into a conversation with himself about round IDE cables, and how they let the air inside your pc flow better, well sounds reasonable, although IDE cables are pretty much paper thin anyway, anyway, does anyone know if they improve performance? or if they're just something a little different + are they the same price, i can't find any :)

Heh, trying to force wide IDE cables into a floppy disk drive would almost certainly break it..

Patronising fool, I would make my own, just to fill time, but the rubber surround seems much nicer, not as if they're expensive anyway.

Makeing rounded cables yourself is easy but tricky, esspecially when your are trying to round an ata66 cable than it is a normal ide cable, as long as you are carefull then it is worth doing and it won't cost you anything at all, i bought mine as i couldnt be bothered to make them.

How else would they be done? just the fact that it's done for you, I was thinking about wrapping mine up with masking tape, not quite the same effect + wouldn't look as nice.
