More of a general reminiscing topic than something more structured.

What do you remember fondly about your childhood? What do you miss that might not be around any more? Maybe there's something you don't miss and you're glad that you don't have to have or do any more?

For me, as with many people, I think I end up looking at the past through rose tinted specs. I always think that the cartoons we had in our day were better than most of the stuff on TV, for instance.

I miss gentle stuff like Bagpuss , weird, way out programmes like the Singing Ringing Tree and stuff that wasn't afraid to scare kids like early Dramarama and even the kids educational TV like The Boy From Space (first shown in Black and White then remade in colour in the 80s)

I remember having 10p and being able to get 20 half penny sweets, with some amazing stuff to choose from, including cubes of sherbet with dice designs on.

Riding in the boot of a car with no seatbelts and no safety concerns. It meant having a party of 10 children to take to the park was easy if you had a hatchback,

Some great beer and cigarette commercials too. They always seemed to have the best PR people with interesting ideas for adverts.

Free stuff inside cereal packets. You don't see that these days, probably health and safety with choking. But we used to get cards for films, I still have some Star Trek ones from the first film, as well as tons of PG Tips cards full of interesting facts (the underwater and mystery ones were the best).

So what makes you long for the old days?

@David: Yeah, quality Excab 2 :D I really don't think the weapon is worth the amount of game you are forced to cut out though. Worst idea ever...

Hey, I had no doubt that you completed it like a boss. It was Beatrix and the Jesters who ganged up on you.

After reading up on how to get the weapon, it sounds pretty crazy. lol that you have to skip the FMV scenes because they add to your time and failing at the Festival of the Hunt.

I suppose it doesn't spoil any enjoyment if you've already done a full playthrough and you can say you did it. But with those bragging rights come a stigma and so...

Like 'bauses', cool non-nerd bauses.

Who are you trying to convince with that statement :p

Hi pb,
Just having a read and noticed your 'beer' and 'Star Trek' YouTube links are both for the beer one!?

Sorry not to add much here!

Proof! Hmmm... is a figment of Chris' imagination, he had no childhood!

@Chris: Nah, if Moto and me do compete it will be good natured. I don't like losing, but to Moto? I'm cool with that.

Besides if he does, I'll just call in the heavy weapon (me mate Lewis). He is even better than me.

@David: Yeah, quality Excab 2 :D I really don't think the weapon is worth the amount of game you are forced to cut out though. Worst idea ever...

Hi! Responding to the first page I miss alot from my childhood including myself but that's another story. What I miss is penny candies and cookies my mother which I really miss first. And how innocence the air and world felt. A huge selections of cartoons and my virginity.@:) fame the tv show and 21jump st. Watching and feeling it snow and not be so cold.

Depends which beer and which Star Trek. I'm a Shatner and Guinness man myself.

I'd take beer over Star Trek any day of the week, although the 2009 film was pretty good I definitely do still prefer beer. Thinking about it I actually prefer beer to quite a few things.

And Hmmm thought his post didn't add much!

In fairness, some of the short-cuts I used to use I wasn't sure if they were cheating or not, I never cut through walls or anything, like you seem to see on Youtube.

I think there's probably going to be a few races between me and Warhunt at some point...
