What I'm trying to say is won't someone bring out something fresh and new nobody has tried.
Take examples of Deus Ex(a good mix of shooting and RPG exploring)
Vib ribbon (strange but addictive) and what about The Sims (different from many other games around but addictive as well).
There may well be a new genre in the near future as the consoles get more powerful. With more new genres we can bring more of a good range of games. People could use several genres in their games and bring out something new and different to the gaming world.
And the companies may benifit from it with big sales on their new product.
The others don't have that sum of money.
They will bring out those favorites from the PC and bring some different ones. What do you think Nintendo and Sony
has up their sleeves. Possibly a new character?
Most good originals have sequels for 2 main reasons:- One there is the demand for them from gamers and two because they make money when supply meets demand. Personally I have all 4 Tomb Raiders for the PSX to date, although 3 was a letdown in terms of new options, and all the Namco Racer series because I have always liked their gameplay and the added bonus that each one gets better and better in terms of sound and graphics. The PSX has more sequels than most of it's rivals today because it has been out longer (the Saturn doesn't have as many games developed for it, although it has been out longer, therefore less sequels,) plus the added fact that so many games have been so original for it. I would love to get my hands on further sequels for the PSX to Metal Gear, Ridge Racer, Final Fantasy, Suikoden 2 and so on, but it's looking more likely that the PS2 will have to be purchased next year to play these, so I'm saving up.
