A week or so back, there were rumours all over the place regarding this MEGATON announcement (which we are STILL yet to hear about). Well, one of them was a CAPCOM buy out which looked very tasty and likely indeed, what with the recent Resident Evil series.

However, with most rumours, this wasn't one-hundred-percent true, though there's some good in it. You see, Shinji Mikami heads CAPCOM's Production Studio Four, and is acclaimed for his Resident Evil and Devil May Cry series. He's also just announced five exclusives for the GameCube:

Resident Evil 4
Killer 7
Viewtiful Joe
Dead Phoenix
Product Number 03

But you already know that, or you SHOULD, at least (if not, see Whitestripes), so where's this news? Well, the beauty of it all lies in the fact that Shinji Mikami has now announced that CAPCOM's Production Studio Four will only work on GameCube games from now on.

Isn't that great? Five new exclusives (not to mention Project Devil, and the rest of the Resident Evil series) from a division of CAPCOM, now confirmed to work only for Nintendo's great machine.

I didn't mention them all, if you aren't going to come up with something sensible then don't bother.

There are many games coming out for other consoles apart from Dino Crisis 3 - Devil May Cry 2, Onimusha 3, Resi Online, and Breath of Fire V for a start.

I s'pose not - but here's my view. After Capcom went DC exclusive with Code V, which then went pear shaped, they are are kind of 'scared', if you will, of the same thing happening. So they spread themselves evenly over the three next gen consoles just in case it happens again. They want to remain exclusive to one console with the Resi series (so far so good), but they have games on other consoles so that if the GC disintegrates they can come crawling back to one of the other consoles.

They're not, this whole thing has been blown out of proportion by a lot of wishful thinking on the behalf of GC-only owners who's views are affected by their wishes.

And Tiltawhirl - maybe that's just the type of person you are. Some people like to play cooperatively. And it's not just "playing through a Resi game with a mate". Don't you think it'd be cool to have a team of you involved in the game, each going seperate ways, meeting up, people not turning up etc? OK, I made it sound crap, but it's not just the same game with five people at a time. It's not some all out action game.

Online Resident Evil is perhaps the worst idea I have ever heard.
Resident evil is absolute gaming drblle, and online gaming is utter tosh, so combining them can only lead to more terrible things.

uhh..since when did four games on other consoles become 'as many' as are on the Gamecube?

Since when did 4 games suddenly equal 11?

And games that have just been released ar enot a factor, the point IS how many have they announced for other consoles? As far as I'm aware it's none, except that Dino Crises 3 is supoosed to be on the XBox.

But aren't you forgetting something? Rare, a company bought by Microsoft still released the game they had finished making for the Gamecube. If Nintendo had bought CAPCOM, then CAPCOM would still have wanted to release games they had practically finished making for other consoles.

Kameo was in production for the 'Cube, and it was moved to the XBox when Microsoft bought Rare, there is no reason AT ALL why Dino Crises 3 development wouldn't just move to the Gamecube.

I'm not saying it's definately happening, I'm sitting on the fence for this one. But your arguments are so pathetic and ill thought through....

LOL

Yes it does. Why on earth would you want to go online and pay through a Resi game with a load of perfect strangers?

I'd rather play something competetive thankyou very much.

Well okay, but isn't that multiformat? And is anyone actually bothered about it??

It was. Number one was anyway. I never got 2.

Nah. I just hate the stylings of it. I can't bear to look at it. I like the look of the other three though.

I'm not sure on announcement times, but they have a lot of games coming up and recently released on other consoles. Devil May Cry 2, the Breath of Fire series, Onimusha 3 on PS2, Dino Crisis 3 and Capcom vs SNK on XBox - basically they have just as many on other consoles.

> I really wouldn't be so sure about Capcom not being bought out,

Well I would. Most of the people who seem to think this is likely only own a GameCube and are basically thinking wishfully. I have a GameCube and PS2, so I don't care either way - I have an objective view.

And Resi Online doesn't look sucky. You're just jealous.

Oh, and by the way, there are extensive rumours in the financial industry that a buyout of Capcom will be put into place very, very soon.

Microsoft are thought to be considering a bid, not too sure where the Nintendo rumour came from, but the Microsoft rumour has been published in magazines around the world. Remeber, the rumour has come from the stock markets, not the games producers, they have nothing to do with what the board of directors decide.
