Hype.
It's very rare that an anticipated game ever lives up to it's hype, let alone a game of MGS2 proportions. It's actually realliy pee-ing me off when I keep reading stuff on here like:
"MGS 2 is the best game EVER!".
Er, no it's not. IMHO. Also, how do you know? Have you played the full thing? Have you played every game that's ever been released, ever? Nope.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it's going to be rubbish. I just don't think it will be this gaming utopia that everyone seems to be expecting.
I have played the demo, and admittedly it's not the full game, so I haven't got the complete view. But then you wouldn't get the complete view until you'd spent your £40 and completed the whole game.
Which I don't intend to do.
What's wrong with it then?
Ok, this may sound like a silly question, but: What *is* a Metal Gear? Who are the people you work for? Good guys or Bad Guys? I sat through about 4 days of cut scene before playing the demo, and I still don't know the answers.
The main problem I have with MGS2, apart from the fact it's boring as hell (more on that later), is the fact that it seems to rely on you having played, and to some extent completed, the first game.
Which I haven't. I didn't own a PSX, and haven't played even 1 second of MGS. So I have no idea of the story etc. Was this explained to me? Nope.
Going back to the boring bit I mentioned earlier...
I found MGS2 boring. I know this part is all personal opinion, so I don't expect everyone to agree with me, but I did. I want games to be fun. I don't want to have to sneak around making sure no one can see me. I want to barge in with a rocket launcher and blow the crap out of everyone.
I don't want to spend my playing time in complete fear of being discovered. I don't want to breathe a huge sigh of relief each time I finish a level.
Basically, I want enjoyment, not challenges from my game.
I want a game that I can play for just 10 minutes before I go to the pub. I want a game where I don't *have* to play for an hour just to get a level finished. I want a game where I don't save at every opportunity just in case one tiny mistake means game over.
I want a game that isn't MGS2.
Can we postpone all arguments untill someone has acually experienced the whole game?"
Good point. However, I would say that I would have to pay out £40 to play it, to realise I didn't like it. Which seems a little silly to me.
I'm more interested in why alik seems to think I can't like.
It's my opinion on the game, based on limited play, which I wanted to get across to ssxpro and Tarrant. Yet someone is saying my opinion is wrong.
How can this be? Surely my opnion is as valid as everyone elses, even if mine is different.
> Perhpas it is you that cannot face facts. I have played MGS2, I got the demo on
> the latest edition of OPSM2. Why can't you accept that I just don't like
> MGS2?.
It makes me laugh that you are all basing your knowledge of MGS2 on a tiny demo on a magazine... A demo, whihc a)doesn't even get into the story line and b)As with all games, it's the first level, wich in most cases is boring and easy!!
Can we postpone all arguments untill someone has acually experienced the whole game?
What is so hard to understand about that?
Also:
The DC is not a "heap of junk".
It had some fantastic games on it. Which is why the OPSM2 are so glad that Sega is now a 3rd party software developer.
I don't care if MGS2 will rule or not. I know what sort of games I like, and I don't like MGS2, that's my choice, my opinion. I like a lot of games that are out on PS2, otherwise I woulfn't have bought the console.
Perhaps you should open your eyes and see that there are great games on other platforms, and there is nothing wrong with owning more than one console.
What's wrong with my posts exactly? Just because I have a different opinion to you...
No, I haven't played MGS1, as I didn't own a PSX.
I don't like MGS2, simple as that. What can't you understand about that? Is it really that difficult to comprehend?
P.s go to www.dictionary.com if you can't understand some of the words I've used.
I actually own a PS2 and enjoy playing games on it. I just don't like MGS2. I wrote this topic to explain to two of my mates exactly *why* I won't be buying MGS2.
You cannot say my opinion is wrong, as it's just an opinion. Yours is obviously different.
How you can say I'm "either a sega lover or nintendo childish player, shut up dissin sony cos you are only after attention" is beyond me.
I enjoy playing GAMES. I own a PS2, a DreamCast and a GBA. I'm not fixed to one hardware manufacturer as I like the games available across all formats.
I want to buy an XBox and a GameCube as well, but I'm a bit too poor at the moment.
Can I suggest two things that would make your posts better?
1. Stop skipping English lessons.
2. Try and appriciate other peoples opinions.
