With most of the old lengendary consoles getting rare to find in stores such as SNES, Mega Drive, ect, the only way to play the games for them is to get the ROM. The regulations of using ROMS is that you must delete the file after 24 hours if you do not own the origanal game, but whats the point? Nobody's going to arrest you or even find out, so why is it still a crime?? Lets here your views...

I'd read it somewhere today that you have got to destroy the original if you plan to use the backup...

Basically, ROMs are illegal for you to play, even if you own the game it is illegal!

The 24 hour rule was made up just to try and get past the copyright law and people seem to have believed it!

eh? thats not what it says?

Isn't it saying that as long as you own the original you can make/use as many ROMs as you like for personal use...

But that if you give/sell/get rid of the original, you have to get rid of the ROM/copy too?

You are required to own an original copy of the title you intend to backup, if you sell or give away the original copy, you will either, (A) Destroy that backup or (B) Give the backup to the person receiving the original. This law extends to PC and basically anything that consists of copyable data for backup purposes.

So by playing the ROM you are required to kill the original copy!
