A phrase so ofte heard. And I agree, but for a different reason.
Of course, I have no doubt that the new Zelda will have great gameplay, maybe even some revolutionary elements too. Either way it's going to be a classic.
But why Cell-shading? After all, as I understand it, cell-shading was invented by Sega to give Jet Set a grafiti feel to it. Of course, it works superbly for cartoons too, hene games like Wacky Racers use it. So, why Zelda? It is neither a cartoon, nor is it a street sports game. It simply doesn't warrant the new look.
I propose two alternatives:
1) The hyper-realistoc look.
Clearly, this will allow Nintendo to truely realise the phantasy elements of the game- great looking maic effect, immense bosses and perfect sword fights would make the game the crown of the Gamecube and show what the console is capable of. It would increase gamecube sales, and would alert the massmarket as to Nintendo's genius. It couldn't go wrong!
2) A new graphical style:
Well, Cell-shading was invented to look like grafiti- the topic of the game it was used in. So, why doesn't Miyamoto invent a new style for Zelda that would allow the phantasy side of the game to shine. How about having a sky that swirls with multiple colours- like a moving Monet painting. Lakes could be done in the same way- ever seen Monet's water-lilies? Evil creatures in the game could be surrounded by a haze of dark evil that would follow their bodys and produce stunning effects.
This is what I mean by a new graphical style.
Well, there are my two cents for the day. I'd like to know your opinions- especially on that last idea.

There's even a poll on the Nintendo website asking which look of Zelda we'd prefer.
Yet only last week Miyamoto was confirming that it was still set for a pre-Xmas 2002 release in Japan.
I think I'd be sad to see the 'Cel-da' look go now though!
Oh well, I'm sure we'll know one way or another at E3. I'm wondering what they'll introduce to the game this time, maybe they'll build on the 'seeds' from the oracle games, or maybe the changing seasons?
Again, we'll see!

thats what i mean.
Ah, yes, the SNES version
People are only complaining because of the way the two Zelda games looked on the 64. If they'd been in this new GameCube style, no-one would care
It's their project, let them do it however they want

ALL THE OTHER ZELDA GAMES THAT WERE IN 2D and carttony looking. They were some fo the best.

Anyway, Strafex, yes, I do realise they have "adapted" the cell shading. But my point still stands- graphics are meant to depict the style of the game, and a new style of graphics, like the Monet based ones, would have been more appropriate, and have far more impact.
BTW, tonight, "What Dreams May come" is on Channel 4. I've never seen it, but I've seen clips of some of the scenes in which Williams walks through his wife's monet-like paintings! Wonder if that'll be like I imagined my version of Zelda to be
