I know... that question mark is a bíatch, but it's there. Sorry.

Still, here's the word from Tendobox:

Nintendo Of Europe originally said in a press release that the GameCube launch date would be announced on February the 5th at the Millia gaming show, but now it looks like it's been pushed forward.

Strong industry rumors suggest Nintendo will now be announcing the date on Monday. In fact, Jasper Segers, owner of Dutchgaming.net claims Nintendo Benelux confirmed this to him.

Senior NOE spokesperson Kimo Sabe has told Computer And Videogames that every rumored launch date so far has been wrong but despite that, the site is speculating April 5 and May 3.

Dammit - I've been saying April the 5th all along! Will no-one listen!

Still, We'd better start saving. I might as well clean my ISA out, because saving is for middle aged people, plus my brother owes me his pocket money because I beat him at pro Evolution Soccer...

£327 ISA money + £10 pocket money from brother...

£340 for some GameCube lovin'.... Sounds mighty fine to me!

I wonder if anyone on these forums actually cares aobut the X-Box... it's all GameCube, baby, and it's way cool!!

Nah, I think Nintendo were worried that the Gamecube launch would have been over-shadowed by X-box.

Sure, In the US Nintendo went head to head with X-box, but Nintendo need a strong start to thier Europeon console launch becasue N64 wasnt that popular here. If Nintendo want to be heard then they dont want the public to be distracted by the huge advertising Microsft will be putting down at launch for X-box.

Also we dont know how production is going on PAL Gamecubes. An early release may have meant a shortage of Gamecubes and a lot of people going cubeless. But the May launch means we should have 1 Million units accross Europe, which is good compared to some 300,000 rumours flying about.

The 150 pound price tag is tops (hopefully the games will be priced nicely in a similar way. 40 pound RRP sounds about right.)

But May 3rd sucks.

Nintendo CAN compete with the Xbox in March.
If the shops put a Gamecube next to an Xbox, Rogue Leader next to any Xbox game, the Xbox game MIGHT look a teensy bit better, but not enough for the average buyer to notice.

Besides, Rogue Leader is STARWARS!

And even if they think that the Xbox game is slightly better, will they think that it's a 150 pounds worth better?

A May release means I don't get to play the thing until after my exams in June.
Never mind. I'll just have to buy a GBA/Snes while I wait...

Really...

I suppose that's no so bad... although people looking at early March will be upset.

Still more time to save!

Do you think it's worth getting just 3 controllers in total and waiting for Wave bird, or not?

The official Nintendo site for Europe is actually a German site. Link to it from the gloabal page on nintendo.com. I wouldn't bother though!

BTW... www.nintendo.co.uk returns a DNS error, which I assume means it doesn't exist? Making the GCN Europe site the only official Ninty site for this region? Please correct me if I'm wrong?

Over the years I've become very jaded after many bad experiences with customer services, you have bucked the trend. Polite and efficient from the Freeola team, well done to all involved.
