"Eternal Darkness (Well, until dawn...)"

After deciding against sleep last night, I spent a little while on an internet chess thing. Call it homework for the forum match :^)
Being completely new, I had the low starting rating. When I beat someone who clearly considered himself pretty good, as his ego-massaging rating supported (I was a bit lucky - I was playing overly offensively, just cos it's more interesting (yep, chess, interesting. Odd one.), and it didn't go horribly wrong), he tried to accuse me of cheating. Exactly how it's possible to cheat when the computer restricts everything you do is beyond me, I'm pretty sure he was just a very sore loser.
The I played a couple more people who were quite offensive (nasty personality, not chess style) too.
I don't like these strange chat forum nerds
;^)

I think they place too much of their self-esteem in being better at chess than the last random stranger they met...

Anyway, leaving the chess field (?) I picked up Eternal Darkness. It's been around for a couple of weeks, but with Tonty Hawk's 4 and exams, it hadn't got a look in. Not a single play. Hadn't even registered the pin (and no, you're not having it :^P ).
After Resi disappointed me I wasn't expecting all that much from ED.

I couldn't have been more wrong.
That game rules.

The controls, especially attack controls, felt a bit awkward at first, still do when it takes more than one or two hits to kill an enemy, but it must have been balanced into the game difficulty I think.
Other than that, the gameplay is supurb. Can't fault it. Maybe the puzzles could get a little 'zelda' - ie, you spend a week trying to figure one thing out, then you see the solution, and it was all so obvious... - but it hasn't yet.

But the insanity effects... Damn. That. Game. Is. Good.

Entering rooms and finding myself somewhere I didn't expect, I'm still not sure if one of those was insanity or actually me getting lost...
The knocking on the doors also got inside my head, as did the statue head for that matter.

Still, without spoiling anything, the bit in the bathroom was *the Daddy* of gaming moments. I spent the next five minutes wincing whenever I pressed B :^)


Clocked up 2 1/2 hours so far, and completed 3 chapters. I have the next one waiting for when it goes dark tomorrow night :^)

I've realised it wasn't a glitch, I just cocked up.

Anyway i've started again so it doesn't matter anymore.

Couldn't you find out what the other rune was by looking at it's shape? and you said in another topic that you believe the game you bought had a glitche that took away your rune, but I have never had any glitches in any of my games or my GC since I got it in May.

I think I'll decide against sleep tonight and play some games.

Only problem is that because of little sleep last night I can feel sleep taking me already... zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

I got the wrong Lingo I had the spell scroll thing that brought up Summon Zombie on my spell list. but I didn't have the thing too show me what the Tier rune was, I tryed using the ? mark rune but all that did was make a new spell.

Trust me there was no way around it I had to start again.

Nevermind.

No one can actually get to the end of a level without rune so if you managed to get to next means you actually did have the rune but you forgot the Codex the thing that translates the Rune. but you can still make the spell especially if you have the spell scroll with you.

I said before you can still do the spell, all you need to get rid of the ? is the codex, but if you didn't have the codex you can still do the spell. But you do actually need to know what the ? means in the first place to make up spells uing the unreadable rune.

Telescope puzzle after WW1?

Odd....

All you have to do is to adjust the dials to move the beam onto the mirrors......

Or maybe you did the Gulf war one....

I missed the 'Tier' one first time through. Very annoying,

The red boss battle cutscene is by far the best one out of the three, the one that is on the Blue path is the most strategic for Xelo'toth but it only comes in 2nd place. The extra cutscene at the end of completing all three paths is actually quite a good explainaton of what Mantorok was up to while they weren't unterested in him as much.

That's the exact thing I did, only I didn't realise and gave up and stopped playing the game for like 4 months.

Anyway I'm back on Eternal Darknes and loving every minute of it. I've just completed the War chapter which was the best so far. Even the boss fight rocked.

I gotta do that stupid telescope puzzle now I think, can't for the life of me work it out.

Finished on Ulayoths path. Now doing it finaly on Chattur'ghas.

Done Blue and Green. Red at Karims chapter.
