It gave un true analogue control, four player, and some other stuff.
Its death see the death of cartidge based (proper) consoles - the GBA carries on that legacy.
Rest in peace my dear friend you will never be forgotten - at least for another couple of years.
10 N64 games you should own:
The Ocarina of Time
Goldeneye
Perfect Dark
Super Mario 64
Paper Mario
Conkers Bad Fur Day
Majora's Mask
Mario Tennis
Mario Kart 64
Blast Corps
Tahnkyou for listening.
I'm not so sure about Zelda though, it'll be good no doubt but seeing Zelda in full 3D for the first time and being such a great game generally I can't see how it will be better really.
I mean Mario Sunshine was great but when you first saw Mario on the 64 in full 3D there was more of a "wow" factor about it, no?
It's better
Oh, and it has SoAL too. Best console ever.
Awesome.
I'm still completing my N64 collection, it was too hard finding stuff complete with boxes so I don't mind if they're just the cart anymore. All I need is Mario 64 really, maybe snowboard kids 1/2 and Diddy Kong Racing I have..
Zelda OOT
Zelda MM
Banjo Kazzoie
Banjo Tooie
Goldeneye
Perfect Dark
ISS64
Wayne Gretzky Hockey
Fighters Destiny
South Park
South Park Rally
Mario Kart
Lylat Wars
WWF No Mercy
Excitebike 64
Mario Tennis
Conkers Bad Fur Day
I think that's it. I'm quite proud of that little lot.
But can't wait for wind waker.
The worst thing about it all was undoubtabley the price. And that's a problem that means I am still trying to complete my N64 collection - even today. But I still love it, especially some of the games like Zelda and Paper Mario. And I found Mario Kart 64 to be one of the N64's greatest multiplayer games. Even if it sucked, alone.
I'm still after Pilotwings, and a few others, including Banjo-Tooie, too.
But I've barely completed any of my 20+ games, but it felt great to complete Zelda: Ocarina of Time for the first-time just before Christmas.
This is one console I could never forget!

I totally agree. Mine is just gathering dust.
