Right, tot up your score, and divide it by 10. Look at the table below:
SCORE:
AVERAGE:
1-1.5: Novice computer user who just spends an hour a night on it chatting to his mates on MSN and playing Wolfenstein.
1.5-2.5: Advanced user who spends a lot of time doing stuff that's a bit geeky. You have bveen using computers for about 3-5 years
2.5-3: You have reached the Zen stage of computing and have advanced to a higher plane of reasoning and understanding. You also have a script that tells you how much porn you have.
3+: You have the intelligence of a pre-pubescent rabbit and need to learn how to do basic maths.
> And Tyla, as I explained before, The Mac isn't really comparable and so to include it would just serve to aid confusion.
I still don't understand why it's not comparable... OK if this was about kitchen appliances, then you'd be right, but this was about Computers/OS's, of which, I beleive, a Macintosh is and uses it's own stand alone OS?
OK, so it's not Win or Linux, but it's still more accessable and available to the domestic market than Linux!!
Is your prejudice because of:
A) It's not linux or
B) You don't know anything about them and it's not Linux:-)?
And Tyla, as I explained before, The Mac isn't really comparable and so to include it would just serve to aid confusion.
> No, the quiz about "The more you know about computers, the more open minded
> you become and are able to wheigh up the pros and cons of both and realise
> they're both good for some thing but could be better". Did you even read

Q5. What do you think of Linux?
1. Li-what?
2. It rules Windows in every way and is better at everything.
3. Has its bad points and sucks a bit at some things but generally better than Windows.
Oh yeah, I see what you mean now. It is quite balanced, isn't it?
> No, the quiz about "The more you know about computers, the more open minded you become and are able to wheigh up the pros and cons of both and realise they're both good for some thing but could be better". Did you even read it?
The more you know about computers... yet in your eye's a Mac isn't a computer? That's a bit closed minded isn't it?;-)
> And Bill Gates is a fairly nice guy. He gave £2billion to charities last year.
The Mafia does this every year yet they ain't nice people!! Giving money to charity doesn't justify how nice you are!!
Any Bill Gates is a fairly nice guy. He gave £2billion to charities last year, and seems really nice on World Business Report interviews.
> Grix said:
"4. He's a very good businessman. What does this question
> prove?"
It's to see if you can see behind the prejusdice and zealotism
> and realise that Bill Gates is a nice guy, but his comapny has some evil ways.
Bill Gates is not a nice guy. He is a successfull businessman, and therefore cannot have been a nice person. He started making his fortunes by selling DOS to companies... but not selling them all the same version. Give someone DOS 1.. then tell the next person they can have DOS 2.. go back and say that XXX has DOS 2 to the first company... sell them DOS 3... etc
He also had a rather heated argument with AOL (broadly speaking).
"I could buy part of your company, I could buy all of your company, or I could destroy you in the marketplace" he said, before they made it big. He went on to fail, but he wasn't exactly nice about it all. Now he wants to abolish Java support, as it's a potential threat to him.
Yeah, real nice bloke.
Now, most of the rest of the quiz is Linux Vs Windows. Here we have the steriotypical "The more you know about computers, the more you should like Linux" theme, which is absolute rubbish.
Linux has an abyssmal driver database, and relatively little support. If you love spending hours trying to get everything to work, then yeah, it's great. Windows may hog four times as much of the system resources, and crash more often, but it gets things done, and it makes life simple.
Linux does crash. Linux is fiddly.
Grix, why are you being so difficult? You enjoy winding me up don't you!
"Grix, you obviously aren't getting this."
Yeah, but "What do you use your PC for?" still doesn't make you any more of a better person with computers than anyone else.
This is no more than a "How much are you like Turbonutter questionnaire?"
1. Microsoft Windows.
2. GNU Linux.
3. They all suck.
3) Microsoft Windows, for the average guy on the street, there is nothing better, and at the end of the day, that's all that matters.
Q2. What operating system do you use?
1. Microsoft Windows.
2. GNU Linux.
3. Both.
1.
Q3. How do you feel about Bill Gates?
1. He gave the world Windows! He rules!
2. I hate his very being and is merely a waste of floor space.
3. He's a nice guy. It's his company I hate.
None of the above, one of the major success stories of the 20th century, I don;t know him personally so I can't comment on his character.
Q4. What do you think of Windows?
1. It's great. It's the World's Most Popular OS!

1. Li-what?

3. Has its bad points and sucks a bit at some things but generally better than Windows.
It has it's uses but as a general everyday operating system, it sucks.

1. Packard Bell/Tiny/Compaq etc...

3. I built it myself.
3.

1. Network?

3. This box, my boxen upstairs and the 486 in my toilet.
2 plus a cable modem hooked up.
Q9. What do you use your PC for?
1. Games, office.
2. IRC, lodsa Net stuff etc...

Uni work......
Q10. What do you think of Macs?
1. Bit geeky. I prefer a hoody.
2. Look nice but they don't have the support.
3. Macs are cool. I want one, but I probably wouldn't use it often.
More powerful than PCs, have their uses but they're limited in the same way Linux is. If your a business doing graphics/video, Macs kick backside.
