explanation please!!

I thought the Xbox had "the most powerfull graphics chip on the planet" if it does then it doesn't show it. Dead or Alive 3 looks proper mint but The gamecube graphics look alot more realistic and how can i put it "gamey". Resident Evil looks stunning with the flamethrower, water and all that and those parts are NOT pre-rendered but From what I've seen of the Xbox there's nothing there that my PC can't do!!

Am I the only one who thinks this??

Oh, and if 'fun' is still a significant enough reason to play games, then PGR is a better game than GT3 - according to a magazine.

But anyway

All 3 formats have their strongpoints.

Now now...

After being defeated into watching Thumb Bandits last night, which was actually quite good, I have to say I was very impressed with the X Box graphics - Halo looked awesome, Project Gotham looks stunning as does DoA3, but then I haven't seen any GameCube games running - and watching in the flesh is much better for comparison, as videos, seeing television footage, doesn't make it that fair.

However, graphics maketh not a game, and thus even if there are some games on the Game Cube that look better, more 'gamey' (and I know what you mean about that), then it doesn't really matter as long as people are impressed with the X Box, and that the games play like they should - arousing excitement and that releasing that gameplay drug that is so common these days, causing our addictions...

Whether to get an X Box, Game Cube or keep your PS2/get a PS2, isn't really an issue for me - I've got a PS2 and thanks to NeverSoft, I won't be selling it, not for a long while. Balder's Gate 2 - is that out yet? That looks like something that could definitely be a good excuse to fall behind in my school work, and well we all know which game is coming out just before the X Box is released.

The funny thing about some X Box games being released before the consoles release, notably games from EA, so I am told is that these games will probably sell really well, yet they'll also probably be the worst in the line up - maybe because they're not in the launch line up, they won't be counted as launch titles (pre-launch) and thus, seeing as they're from EA mostly, the most excitement you'll have from them is staring at the cover for 6 days while some actual games do come out :)

Anyway, I just need a few more £ to order mine.

Can't wait for some non-multi tap 4 player gaming ;)

Decisions, decisions....

The thing about the Xbox is, it's not designed to play games. It only uses a small percentage of its capabilities, because it uses an architecture which is not only over 20 years old but also completely wrong for playing games. However, Microsoft got round this by plonking huge (Pentium, idiots...) chips in. The result is nice graphics, but like PC games the framerate hovers horribly and a lot of the time it's wasted, because it may be outputting at 70fps, but it has to be stepped down to 50fps. Therefore, you get dodgy framerates which just look shoddy.

The GameCube to a certain extent is better at playing games so it's less impressive specs are used more efficiently and the graphics are better than you'd expect.

The PS2 is the best at playing games and is the most advanced, in terms or efficiency, console out there. I think it's something like 96%, because it was actually designed solely for games. Actually, it borders on the revolutionary.

It wouldn't surprise me if some Gamecube games are more advanced than Xbox ones.

Although the Xbox is a little more powerful than the Gamecube, it's not THAT more powerful (despite Microsofts over exadurated stats).
And although Capcom did cheat a bit with Resi's pre rendered background, when Nintendo stop messing about (Pikmin and Luigi's Mansion are neat games, but it's obvious that they don't exploit the Gamecube's power) and go for some real eye candy, I think that these games will look just as good as, if not better than, Xbox games.

Over the years I've become very jaded after many bad experiences with customer services, you have bucked the trend. Polite and efficient from the Freeola team, well done to all involved.
