explanation please!!

I thought the Xbox had "the most powerfull graphics chip on the planet" if it does then it doesn't show it. Dead or Alive 3 looks proper mint but The gamecube graphics look alot more realistic and how can i put it "gamey". Resident Evil looks stunning with the flamethrower, water and all that and those parts are NOT pre-rendered but From what I've seen of the Xbox there's nothing there that my PC can't do!!

Am I the only one who thinks this??

The GameCube has got built in effects. The Xbox doesn't have these effects built in. Put plain and simple, dumb developers can let the hardware do the work on GC, whereas on Xbox the programmers have to be half clever to do it themselves.

I have played both the X Box and the GameCube, yet when it came down to it, I chose the GameCube. Why? Well, apart from being cheaper and X Box's controller being as much fun to hold as a death sentence, the games were better to. The game on XBox that was actually good was Halo. Apart from, it was all pretty shoddy and a nightmare to play with the random mess of buttons that is the XBox controller. However, the GameCube games were very well polished, graphically superb but actually fun as well. And with loads of developers on bord for the GameCube, and Nintendo and Rare as well, there was no doubt in my mind that the GameCube would continue to have good games. If your'e choosing between the XBox and Cube, my advice is get the Cheaper, funner, and better controllered GameCube.

I agree with you Resi Evil fan. There's nothing the box can do that a PC can't. You probably can't even upgrade the X-box, which you can with the PC. And you'll probably find that most games will be available on both systems (both being Microsoft) and the PC pads are a lot smaller!

Coming back to what was said about resident evil, The backgrounds are pre-rendered but obviously the character models, weapons, zombies etc are NOT and if you've seen the latest videos you'll see the background change instantly from pre-rendered to rendered and become interactive. Chris used the flamethrower to burn the outside grass and shoot a hole in one of the pipes leading to water leaking everywhere. I suppose it's a bad example to compare performance with but I'm still not impressed with what I've seen on the Xbox.

I heard that the X-box was only powered by gerbils, whereas the gamecube was powered by genetically modified hamsters, and the Force from star wars.

In a recent survey 99 out of 100 hermaphrodites said that the GC was their favourite console. Let's hope that Bill Gates faces up to facts and realises that the x-box is a pile of pap.

Seriously though. I have actually played on an x-box while I was in America. It crashed twice, and the graphics were good, but disappointing. I was expecting more than I saw. From the rolling demos I saw, Halo seemed like the best game. However, it did seem like a rather dull turok style game. Note, I was watching a rolling demo, I didn't play Halo, these are only opinions I have drawn from watching a demo. I have heard great things about the AI, but from what I saw it seemed like you were just shooting everything that moved towards you, and being swamped by wave upon wave of enemies. Not too impressive. The level design seemed unoriginal and a bit bland. Overall I found the x-box disappointing. THe only active demo was Abe's munchies thingy, which had a godawful camera that resulted in me dying about 10 times while trying to negoiate a twisty path at speed. The camera couldn't keep up and was prone to random movements, which meant that the direction I had been pushing the control stick was now facing off the path instead of along it.

I recommend that anyone thinking of buying an x-box plays on one first. Same applies to the Gamecube. Don't rely on promo shots either because they are rarely taken from in-game. They're usually souped up to look amazing. I'm going to play on both consoles before I decide which to get.
