Sometimes I think that there are people on the xbox forum who have forgotten that the sequel to the best game on xbox is coming out.
Yeah, alright, so there isn't exactly dayly updates but still, maybe we can all say what we want in Halo 2 and when updates come, we can post them here...........
All its done is made a FPS version of a game like Zelda - big wow. You also mentioned this amazing AI of the enemies, but to be honest, even Turok Evolution's enemies could do that stuff, but the AI was still crap. The advanced AI I'm talking about is of enemies using proper battle tactics, not just a sidestep here and there. Enemies that adapt to situations as things unfold such as having their numbers dramatically cut down or pinning the player down.
For me, a decent FPS is a game that should create epic battles and as others have been saying to you, this is what Halo does best.
Its all well and good exploring and finding another little hole to roll through, but as far as I'm concerned, give me an excellent battlefield instead anyday.
When it comes to this area, at the end of the day what are you gonna do with Samus ? circle enemies and shoot. With Halo, you need to use tactics like finding cover, try pincer movements and use your allies as best you can in order to defeat the Covenant. Then of course theres the vehicles on both sides playing a part which doubles the fun. In my opinion, no fight in Metroid will ever equal the excitement of taking on a Covenant tank on foot with other marines or even better a friend playing in Co-Op.
I really wanted to help the marines get through the fights with as little casualties as possible, so this is another element that really made me think on how to best tackle situations - I hope Bungie are putting even more emphasis on this for Halo 2.
One thing I do have in the back of my mind is a possible World War 2 style beach landing in Halo 2 which could make for a superb gaming moment - afterall, we know that the story is moving on to take place on Earth.
The large battles are what really made Halo famous and in my opinion, its these battles that make the FPS exciting - not trying to find a new hole in the wall to jump though and find a new power up.
And finally, Master Chief is an excellent character in my view, a serious and hard as nails type with a decent look. Definatly one of my all time favourites.
> I genuinely don't think the game is anything special.
Spend some genuine time with it and you will see. It gets the perfect blend of cinematics, action, story and tactics. Also has a grand epic feel thanks largly to the musical score which has won many awards.
From a gamers point of view I think it is silly to be starting World Cosnole War 3 over 2 games which push the boundaries of their genre. Mav it is clear you obviously can't see what Halo is wanting to achieve and an average of 95.4% spread across 167 different reviewers doesn't smack me as being anything other than Amazing and thats not to mention the Gaming BAFTA's it won for graphical excellence and story line. Fortunatley this isn't just hype because the game actually delivers and it is a shame that you can't get into the game and enjoy the master piece on offer. This is what a few sites had to say about Halo:

"The introduction of fully-realized vehicular combat on both ground and air, the steady unfolding of a rich story, and the constant rush of pure and simple combat will leave you regretful if you have to turn off your X-Box before you've uncovered the last of this title's mysteries. There are hints that there will be second Halo, and if we can take this episode as any indicator, this will be an amazing franchise."

"Halo is the perfect example of what next-generation is about, in all forms, and why the Xbox isn't just going to make it, it's going to amaze you. Going with Bungie may have seemed a crazy decision a year ago, but it's paid off in a way that even Microsoft probably never imagined. Like Soul Calibur on the Dreamcast, the Xbox has a launch title that all other games must compete with, for years to come."

"Halo is the kind of landmark, epic game that will lure droves of gamers to the Xbox. It's easily one of this year's best, providing a compelling reason to fork 300 bucks over to Microsoft."
Does that smack you as a game that isn't anything special? I can find 100's of comments similar to those and for the people who have actually completed the game will know exactly how ground breaking it is. If you are expecting puzzle solving and stupid cinematic cut scenes then you will never understand what Halo is about. However if you approach the game as a 'shoot em up' with a compelling story line and top notch gameplay then you too will understand that it doesn't get better than this. By the sounds of Metroid Prime I am hoping for it to top what Halo achieved and by that I am hoping for Metroid Prime to be up there in the top 3 games of this year without a doubt!

It's a FPS. It's also an adventure. It's blending the two and bringing the genre another huge step forward - which is more than can be said for Halo. The footage I saw, involved enemies leaping, dodging, sidestepping, flying while shooting, writhing when hit - the works. Perhaps you saw the game running on an easier level? I don't know. It doesn't sound like what I saw.

Ah well. Opinions, eh?
> You mean like Halo's reviews then ?
Except Metroid's are better and usually include the words 'Better than Halo'.

How the hell can I comment on Samus' character - I haven't played the game! One thing I can say though is that connecting with Master Chief, is like trying to feed a goldfish dog biscuits - it can't be done. Sorry, but in my opinion, Master Chief has no character.
And Halo encourages exploration more? Yeah right. That's what Metroid's based around, and when I played Halo, there's no room for imagination at all. Very disappointing. Technically, the GC could easily pull off Halo - as it can Metroid Prime.

Then you're a bit of a narrow minded nutter.
