What is a phobia?

Why do they affect us so much?

Where do they come from?

Why do we have them?

A phobia is a deep fear of a person sublect or object. it can cause people to react in ways you've never seen them before! Some times it brings out a different part of you! Why does it do that?

some people blame their phobias on past experiences, some... who knows where they came from and why we have them!

There are some weird and wonderful phobias out there!

What's yours?

Come on you can tell us!

I'll start....

Ok mine is quite weird....

I'v got a fear of....

Buttons!!

There is a world of difference between a fear of something and a phobia of something. People just prefer to say phobia because it sounds better, and doesn't contain the word "fear" which many translate as "wuss".

And while you're getting all huffy about being told you're wrong, your complete inability to compose a worthwhile retort is leaving me with a huge grin on my face. To the extent that some of my co-workers probably think I'm looking at porn.

Bartender you said 'Put it this way:

Take someone with vertigo and put them on the roof of a high rise building, some 20 floors up or something. Make them look over the edge. They will quickly become dizzy and nauseous, begin shaking and either run away from the edge or pass out.

Take someone with arachnaphobia and throw a small house spider on the floor by their feet. The blood will drain from their face, they will leap higher than the average trained athlete and tear their way out of the room by any means necessary while constantly rubbing themselves down and shaking up their hair, terrified that the spider has somehow, impossibly got onto them.

You encounter buttons and jewelry every day, probably in every room you ever walk in. How many of those room do you run out of, screaming?'

and you say im the only one taking it seriously? Im only taking the fact you seem to like to pick on me seriously! Can we get back to the subjects of fears please! And it doesnt matter if your not so scared of it that you faint or scream whenever your in the presence of the object! It's just funny hearing what people are scared of or what creaps them out! Thanx! Mwahh! xxxx
