The Getaway is probably one of the most impressive and anticipated games for the Sony PlayStation2. The game is currently set for a Christmas release in Europe. Developed by Team Soho, The Getaway tells the story of two characters. The first, Mark Hammond, is a former criminal who yearns to live a normal life, but when his son is kidnapped and his wife is murdered, he blames mob boss Charlie Jolson. On the opposite side of the law is the second character, Frank Carter, a suspended cop who wants to see Jolson in prison as well. The stories of these two characters intertwine as the game progresses. Specific gameplay details are scarce at this time, but it is known that the game will take place in various locations around London.

The Getaway sounds like a great game. Do you think I should save up for it?

any way i think this will be great the way you could meet up on there and make road blocks and kill every other Ps2 user who tries to cross

I just told you that GC will be released in Febuary, not at the time of MGS2. Quite a bit after it actually.

That's a bit harsh, remember the PSx when that first game came out 'Ridge Racer' and then compare that to GT2 when that came out on the same piece of hardware.

I knew and expected the games first released with the PS2 were not going to be the same as the games that would be released a year later and I think the games like SSX, J&D, MGS2 etc etc have proven that with time developers can do so much more.

I still go back and play some of the early PS2 games, TTT for example still comes out for a thrashing with me mates every now and then and I still think that its a really good game graphics wise for when it was released.

Still I can't wait to see what the games for the PS2 will look like in maybe 2 years time, they should be stunning!

You have to wonder how The Getaway can look so damn-good, when the games we've had thus far on the PS2 have been somewhat average.

Where on earth have they managed to pull this one from?

No complaints, but it just proves how lowly the early PS2 games really are.

This game is going to be awsome if it lives up to all the hype. The screen shots that I saw a few months ago looked great.
