as this months play magazine landed on my floor i quickly rushed and picked it up to be greeted by the words MGS2 IMPORT REVIEW INSIDE. i quickly tore open the wrapping and went to page 24 where the review started. around 6 pages of MGS2 bashing later saying the story was pants and you keep getting interrupted on codec every 2 seconds and raiden sucks compared to solid snake i saw the score. 77% SEVENTY SEVEN PERCENT?!?!?!!? damn man what's up with that i thought this was the games of all games. i hope this is just a crappy american version and the PAL version will be so much better

Sonic

Edge gave it 8/10. It gave THPS3 and SSX Tricky 7.

Call me biased,

but I have been buying Play magazine since issue 12 (now on about 90). I have not had chance to read the review yet, but these guys seem to get the games scores right a lot of the time, (In my opinion).

I bought Z.O.E. with the MGS2 demo, and of course initially excited about the new game, but after a while playing it realised that not a great deal had changed from the previous game. Yes the graphics look so much better, but the gameplay????

The main difference is that MGS2 will tread already well trodden ground, mainly from the PS title, but how many other MGS clones are there out there?

Of course the hype has not helped, and seeing screen shots in every mag every month, as well as finding out about the plot does not really help.

It is of course our fault that we want to find out as much as possible on the big games, the mags give us what wwe want so we buy them, and then feel let down when the game does not live up to expectations.

Didn't someone say a while back that The Edge gave GTA3 6/10? Maybe they haven't got the hang of decimals.

Indeed Edge did give GTA3 6/10, but Edge are unlike any other games publication and seem to evaluate games to a far deeper level than most.
