Obviously your ideas have to be somewhat original and well written, but it's not a bad idea to avoid intentionally writing to win GAD.
I had two really important events happen to me the two weeks leading up to Chrismtas, that inspired me to come here and write. Consequently, I won GAD twice!
That is being honest.
