Already have a PS2, and on the basis on actually ability and not being boxed with pointless bits of plastic I will also say GAMECUBE!!
so:
Gamecube Gamecube Gamecube Gamecube Gamecube Gamecube Gamecube Gamecube Gamecube Gamecube Gamecube Gamecube Gamecube Gamecube Gamecube Gamecube Gamecube Gamecube Gamecube Gamecube Gamecube Gamecube Gamecube Gamecube Gamecube Gamecube Gamecube Gamecube Gamecube Gamecube
> and X-box takes the edge from PS" for me as it has hard-drvie and modem already.
> PS2 owners will have to shell out extra for these features.
Firstly... Why? What need is there for an 8GB HD and a Modem in the UK? There is yet to be a solid Online Cosole Gaming Architecture in the UK and untill this happens, owners will have to pay through the nose to play their games on line, and at 56k? Is it really worth shouting about. Both Sony and Nintendo ahve held off boxing these items as ther is no need for them in this territory as of yet and untill there is, why give owners somethin they're unlikely to use.
Secondly...As for the HD? Why? Sony's HD will be a HUGE 40GB when it arrives over here in the summer. This has been designed for the future on online media, the ability to watch films, download new games, etc etc, but apart from that, it only really benefits a game by reducing loading times as with a PC. But 8GB... come on, again, not really worth getting excitied about, and you'd think with the size of the exb(oll)ox, they'd get more in there.
Sony have just started to intorduce their Online strategy in the US and Japan and have teamed up with AOL, Macromedia ans Fulitsu, something no-one else has thought of, and if you haven't been keeping up with developments, this online infrastructure will be open source allowing everyone to use it including those Sad dissillusioned XBOX owners.
In Japan, Sony are offering the HD and BB adapter free if you sign up to the service for a year, in the USA, they are keeping the console at $299 but including the HD and BB adapter in the box, and going on GB vs Price, Sony outdo Microsft considerably, but unlike MS, the infrastructure is there, inplace ready for users to enjoy.
The UK is sometime off yet, mainly due to our lack of BB over here (only 5% of the country can get regular, reliable and cheap BB access) and until this improves, it will be sometime before we see a true gaming network in this country.
How you came to the conclusion that the XBOX has the edge on Sony we will never know, probably another victim of media hype who's been spoon fed what to beleive...
By all means, if you beleive that 8GB and a cheap 56k modem is the future of online gaming, good luck to you, but Sony HAVE THE EDGE, thay have been planning, building for the future, building alliances and about to deliver what the world has been waiting for.
Just because the XBOX comes with your Modem doesn't mean that suddenly in the UK there will be the network to play your games on... What happened to the DC? Sony aren't crap because they haven't done what MS have done, nor are Nintendo, they have done it for a reason, and if you avoid the hype, you'd understand.
:P
X-Box doesnt interest me at all, and GC are made by Nintardo.
PS2 owners will have to shell out extra for these features.
Maybe if it's good enough i'll buy an Xbox, but I know a couple of mates who'll be getting a GC and so i'll be able to play it anyway.
I don't think i'd ever consider selling my PS2 just to be able to buy both of these consoles.
May sell PS2
Get X-box+gamecube.
