eh?? ... I was meaning that MS already have a deal for mass internet access, and that, just because SEGAs network was expensive, doesnt mean that all console net access has to be... (Although I suppose it could be a way of creating demand, and for BT to get more cash specifically to expand the BB network?)

But SONY want their PS2 to be an extertainment system, whilst MicroSoft have repeatedly stated they want to concentrate on games...

Besides, theres no reason to install the complete game to the HDD... Most PC games tend to keep the movies and audio tracks on the CD/DVD since this tends to minimise installation size, and doesnt affect gameplay at all...

How do you know the support will be good? Maybe they'll charge 60p per minute for customer support, may the sevice will be terrible??? ... Once youve signed up, youve got to take whatever they throw at you...

Currently, yes, but this is due to it selling

I dont understand what you mean? ... Besides, I expect the X-Box will drop in price around Christmas 2002? ... Also it means developers have been able to take avantage of a HDD (and modem?) when developing their titles already... With the PS2 theres going to be a very awkward transfer period, since many people wont be getting HDD will many developers take advantage of it for the PS2? Or maybe SONY will force buyers to by addtion to their machine, which will be a sting for people who bought the console for 299.99?...

Yeas... but we have a strong gaming network... (I didnt mention BB?)

This doesn't work.

SONY arnt in the process of delivering goods... havnt delivereed any goods???

Why will they be using a Sony infrastructure? ... And if Sony arnt relying in themselves, why is it their infrastructure?

Doesnt MS already have 'the Zone'? ... MS are very good at business, this aspect isnt really a big problem for them...

It's wasn't a bias to the PS2, but a statement

Which you denyed without any proof... then you shot down the X-Box and claimed that Sony were better at everything :)

As I said,

But SONY will???

But then again... its not really that important? :)

This doesn't work. Look at the Sega/MS faliure. they have built partnerships in some areas, but have missed out completely on the ones that count for online delivery. Lets see... DoCoMo, AOL & TimeWarner, Macromedia, Cable and Wirless, Fujitsu, Ericsson, all already signed up woth Sony for their delivery of online entertainment... It's wasn't a bias to the PS2, but a statement about assuptions made by future XBOX owners that just because it comes with a modem there will automatically be easy access online play in the UK. As I said, what happened to the DC's online system in the UK... Over priced and unstable. Nintendo are not planning on releasing the CG with the modem in the UK nor looking into online gaming yet over here as the infratructure doesn't exist, Sony are waiting too install but BT are holding EVERYONE up, what makes the XBOX so different?

We rank 7th in Europe for our internet penetration (Ireland rate higher than us!) Only 3% (that 3% of 154 million users)of Europe have BB access compared to 57.3% in the Asia Pacific (57% of 143 million users). BB is the future of online gaming, but unfortunately not in the UK, not for a while.

At MSN.co.uk, Microsoft seemed to have a deal with BT for MSN internet access... this may extent to consoles, so X-Box owners may be able to pay 14.99 a month for 24hr free internet access, or free evenings and weekends calls, or pay as you play, etc... ???

Unless they release the PS3 early?

Maybe this is why MS are relaseing a HD and Modem in box with the X-Box?

Not really... In japan, to get it for free your tied up to a years contract (rather like Skys free installation, if you get Sky world for a year deal)

And in America your paying the same price for a PS2 as an X-Box???

The UK is sometime

Microsoft have been building business alliencies for the past 25odd years... (And if they cant build them, they buy them :) )

I dunno, I've got an 8Gig HD, and I always have tons of space on it...

Although, I also dont think it will be used to install games... More likley to download extra levels, the larger save games (some PC games sometimes take up a fair few meg of space for each gamesave)... Maybe install the game engine for faster loading... Most HD filler, like FMV and music will runn at a suitable speed from the DVD?

(however, I do suspect that patches for both XoBox and PS2(3?) games will start to appear in the future?)

I don't think so somehow. Parts of games may be stored, but as Xbox uses DVD discs like the PS2, once your game collection grows, an 8Gb drive will not last you very long if you install games on it.

Also, can anyone tell me... is the Xbox HD upgradeable? Presumably, like other consoles, opening the box will invalidate the warranty... so can you easily upgrade it, or are you stuck with 8Gb?
