I find it amazing how people will happily take pot shots at the Xbox for crashing once at E3, but rarelt remember the disasters that happened to the PS2... so I dedicate this topic to all such people...

A month before the PS2's launch, Sony held a HUGE gameshow in Tokyo dedicated to the console. PS mags tlked about the show for pages on end, but many of them failed to mention the disasters that occurred...

The mainscreen, big demos crashed repeatedly... to such a point that a large number of them were not shown after the first day... slightly worse that Xbox's one crashed demo at E3...

Add to that the actual playable demos... so many of these pods crashed that Sony not only drilled holes into the consoles' pod cases overnight to allow access to the reset button, but even employed hundreds of lovely looking women to stand by the consoles and hit the reset buttons whenever the consoles crashed!

And then, a few months later, the Xbox is shown off at E3. It has a great show, with one small problem- one of the mainscreen demos crashed once, at the end of a press show. Big deal? Well, if you believe the mags it is- Sony fan boys are still in the Xbox forum talking about this one, small problem.

Now, I wonder... how many fan boys are going to see the title of the topic... skim read it... and then post abuse about the PS2 being great. (Which it certainly is! After all, I wouldn't have bought one if I didn't think so!)

Well, this one is free, and I can just download it using Linux Debian. Any Linux system will use it. There are loads of emulators here, even a MegaDrive one. ROMs are proving trickeir though.

I know SR used to sell an Amiga emulator, but you can probably pick on up free somewhere. Shop around.

I made some really good stuff with it. I think they got up to DP7 in the end.

In fact.... I think I'll emulate it right now!

Muahaha... completely free :)

I have a C1200 upstairs that still works. I still maintain that Dulux Paint IV is one of the best paint programs available!

Its stupid to base the reliability of a console in general over one result. In thoery, if treated properly, it should last forever.

My amiga 600, was bought back in 1993, but it still works fine. But thats only becasue i treat it right. I know a friends one who broke is becasue he didnt treat it right.

It must have been mistreated then. Mine worked perfectly and my old friend from school's has worked since he got it on day one, and still does.

Then it must be as faulty as hell, quite frankly a console almost giving up the ghost after 5 years is a bit off, it should last at least 10.

I find that untrue, My PS is almost unplayable and crashes all the time, i have to turn it on its side to get it going for gods sake, but you can bet your bottom dollar that my SNES will start up no problem, thats almost 10 years on!
