Well, although it wasn't well publicised, Sony bought the company... and with it, all their expertise in handheld gaming (as well as some great licences like King of Fighters and Metal Slug).
So, how long do you think it is that Ninty see a cometitor on the hamdheld scene... it must have been in development for some time already!

i think if sony play there cards right they could beat ninty at there own game easily. i know the gameboy has a lot of games and ninty are now converting snes games but the psx also has millions of different games they could convert which are better then snes games and so a sony handheld would be a definate gba beater.

Actually, Sony have now gone into "i-mode" phones... like the next thing after WAP or G3...
These have screens as good as a GBA, and you download games from your provider...
Already Sega have made a few games on them (Sonic and Chu Chu if I remember correctly), while Namco have made Pacman!
Now if that isn't telling you anything about Sony's plans then what will!
