Yes, but as I say, with PHP/ASP it becomes easy.

Probably so they only have to change part of a web site instead of the whole thing, I mean the Internet was slower back then.

The only advantage I can see for frames is the ability to change a whole site by only modifing one frameset page (IE the menu). Now, I can do that with PHP incluse() so frames have no use any more.

I wonder why anyone invented frames in the first place. They should be shot.

I admit, I used to love them too. They were great. But early in my career I had the job of building a large website for a company, and the design called for frames... Then the client changed the design, so it called for more frames, and more frames. It got crazy. I had more frames and Javascript controlling them than you could shake a stick at.

I learnt my lesson pretty quickly.

Excellent post on Frames FunkyGamer. I remeber years agao that Frames used to be the "in" thing untill people finally discovered the bains of them.

I've managed to avoid using them for years and never want to use them again, though I must admit that I have built an online application that is frame based but this was due to being more of an app than a website and like most apps, it has minimum requirements for users to be able to use it and isn't widely available.

From the first one, you make very clear points on why NS should be supported properly, instead of just assuming it either works or not caring, well done.

As for the Frames thing, again, nicely put over. Just from reading that I've decided to stop using Frames ever again ... and to think I used to think they were pretty cool.

Oh, as for frames, they are Gods' own plague upon the earth. I can prove that even those who pertain to like frames, don't really like them... How?

Name your favourite 3 web sites.. Now tell me, how many out of those 3 have frames?

I could also point out the fact that the most used websites in the world do not use frames...

microsoft.com / netscape.com ( these guys invented frames and still dont use 'em), bbc.co.uk, adobe.com, google.com, yahoo.com, cnn.com, abc.com, ananova.com, ukchatforums.reserve.co.uk, blah blah... you get the point. All of these site are highly content rich... If they don't use frames, the rest of us don't need to either.

Dammit. Don't talk to me about frames.
