The odds for me to win the conference were 25-1 but i am currently sitting 2nd after 10 games :)
Paul Gascoigne - 100k
George Weah - 100k
Matt Mullini - Free
Daniel Nardiello - 250k
Seems to be doing alright though. 2nd in first Division and just beat what seemed to be Man United's u12 team 3-1 in the FA Cup 4th round
Ahem.
Anyway, in my second season with my team, Sheffield Wednesday. What can i say. £18 million in debt, no money for transfers. The first season was a real struggle, still managed a half decent 15th position come end of the season with a nice cup run getting to the Worthless semi's. Yet it wasnt worthless, brought in some much needed cash.
Pre-season, did a bit of wheeling and dealing, and brought some good players on season loans and frees. Half way through the second season now, high in the playoffs around 4th. So doing rather well.

Have you downloaded the patch? It sounds like you haven't, even Everton can't be that poor.

Right click on each training option e.g. Weight Training, it will tell you how this improves you players, then set up 4 separate training schedules, 1 for attackers, 1 for attacking midfielders, 1 for normal midfielders and defensive midfielders, and one for defenders.
Having seen how to improve your players set up the different schedules so that your training works on these aspects:
Your attackers need good finishing, pace, acceleration, anticipation, agility, heading and strength. Crossing, passing and dribbling are also handy.
Your attacking midfielders need good dribbling, creativity, passing, finishing, crossing good technique so they are generally comfortable on the ball.
Defensive midfielders need to be strong good at passing, long shots and tackling, there must be more but that’s all I can think of at the moment.
Defenders have to be strong good tackling, pace, acceleration, heading, jumping and marking.
Make sure you have things like Pig In The Middle for all your people otherwise they get depressed.

Try shaking the 4-4-2 up a little if it’s not working, move an attacking midfielder just in behind the strikers and move your other central midfielder smack bang into the middle. I have found this works well against someone else that is playing 4-4-2 as they never pick him up, but, you will need your other central midfielder to be very strong and have a lot of stamina to win the midfield battle.
What kind of individual instructions have you given your players?
Been real busy with uni work though and probably will be up until Summer which is annoying.
Anyway I started it and it is quite impressive.
Hopefully will get time over the weekend to start it properly and get a good team built up...

Ruud van Nistelrooy missed a penalty as well.
My best win ever in Champ Manager was 14-0 against Moldova when Italy in a qualifyer for the 1998 World Cup in CM97/98.
My biggest result in CM4 so far is 6-0 over FC Kovenhavn as Juventus in the Champions League.
I've also beaten Real Madrid 3-0 four different times using two different teams (Juve and Bayern). They're crap in it.
